If that is case, I suggest finding a situation that has regular income and do trading as a second source of income. Unless you have a big pool of capital to work with which you don't, relying on trading for steady income is a fools errand.

Based on your previous experience, I suggest focusing your efforts on some sort of IT related career. You have a family to support and with an IT/Software job you can easily have a six figure salary and trade on the side.

In that case, go right ahead and pay the extra tax. Uncle Sam will be happy. But think about this for a minute...how is the IRS going to know you were in NY for a month? They won't.

No as you are not a resident of NY during that month...you are just visiting.

Why don't you find someone who is making a "good living" trading ES with a $50k account. Anyone can post nonsense on a message board...the key is to seek out someone who is doing what you aspire to do and then deconstruct how they do it.

Consistently profitable each quarter for a couple of years. I define day trading as having to stare at the screens each day, typically in and out of positions within the same day.
