The no BS, obfuscation-free price action thread

Market context could just be the overall trend. This can be shown on the chart itself by using an.... <fill in the blank yourself>

RSI - Relative Strength Index (Wilder) & RMI - Relative Momentum Index

Every once in awhile you learn something new. I was able to find myself a new indicator to use after reading these posts and searching for something different. Obviously using standard indicators don't work since they lag, and yes many of them do look the same so why put multiple lagging...

The no BS, obfuscation-free price action thread

Let's take a look at today's ES futures chart using a 9 min chart to see if there were some PA setups. Now I am using an indicator to automatically label the HH, HL, LL, and LH. I have also draw some support and resistance lines. As we see from the chart, the indicator is not perfect, in...

The no BS, obfuscation-free price action thread

It's a good start your charts that you posted. Now why don't you try to take a Sim trade off of one of your charts. Then in Excel or here right down the reasons for the trade, if you made profit or a loss and your summary of the price action that got you into or out of the trade. If you...

what financial instrument should a newbie start with?

Forex or futures. If Forex, get a reliable broker not a chop shop.

How can we improve our trading skill ?

Create an excel file of your trades. Why you got into the trade, was it profitable. Did you make mistakes. Try not to revenge trade wait for your setups. Stuff like that. Don't trade when the market is not active. For example, today wide spread between bid and ask not really worth the risk.

Are all price patterns the same? (examples)

Good advice. Also, ask yourself these questions: 1) Have I graduated college? 2) Am I am to comprehend books about trading that I read? 3) Am I able to open a Sim account and practice what I read here or in books? 4) Am I smarter than a 5th grader? If you can't answer these...

    ES Journal - 2013

Finally saw a good signal in ES today and took a short. Seeing the setup made me relax where I think I get nervous when I trade without a setup. I must have been in the zone since it hit target with ease. Yesterday, I had a good entry on the long side but moved it up and got stopped out. I...

Are all price patterns the same? (examples)

Ok, then buy a book if you can't afford someone to mentor you. Here's one to start off of. After you read the book, start trading in sim to practice. My trade on Sunday took only 1 tick of heat and was based on a candle pattern which I don't know if it's in this book since most of my patterns...

Are all price patterns the same? (examples)

Here's some thoughts. 1) Post a chart of your trades. If you don't trade with real money, you can use sim. It does not have to be here, but you need to create a journal and then copies of charts which shows examples of winning trades where you refer back to so that you can hopefully then...

    Massive displayed size in ES!!!

Size shown is not always what is real. You would have to show if all those contracts traded.

Are all price patterns the same? (examples)

To say know 100%.... no I don't. However, when I am following my rules I have a 70% win rate on equal risk vs reward.

Are all price patterns the same? (examples)

This is why I don't use my own judgement to determine HH LL HL and LH. I use an indicator that automatically creates it on my chart. Then I just need to analyse the PA. You need to automate as much of the process as possible.

Are all price patterns the same? (examples)

You seem to not understand the concept of probability. There is no 100% win rate in Price Action. As you correctly note a HH can in fact be followed by a LL. Or it could be followed by a HL but as noted in this thread a HH can not be followed by another HH until or unless you 1st have a HL...

    Remove all bias

This is fine unless price is ranging sideways. If it is doing that, just stay out or go with longer term PA.

    Remove all bias

This is so true. For very short term trading I think its better to not read the news or ignore it. I read the news yesterday about oil, and had a short bias that caused a loss in my time frame. Today, I made a small profit but probably could have traded much better based on my technical...

    2012: The Battle for Survival

Its not money management, it's control of one's emotions. I have seen him not want to take a loss on an option trade during expiration and then go all in with massive option selling on huge margin.
