    ES Journal Archive (2009 - 2010)

Now that I look back on my charts, I can see we were in down trend when I started trading. What confused me was that when I opened yahoo finance, the S&P 500 was still positive by around 4 points. So I thought we were just having a pullback in an uptrend. However, by drawing lines on my...

    ES Journal Archive (2009 - 2010)

I was long ES and averaged into the trade with final stop at 1114.50 which got hit and took a big loss of $ 450.00. Even worse that was the exact low before market went back higher. I then started going long CL and NG and was able to make back all but negative $ 87.00. My main mistake was...

Horizontal line audio alert for NT 7

I have attached a zip file for an indicator that puts a price label on a NinjaTrader 7 chart whenever you use their draw Horizontal line. I was wondering if anyone could add to this indicator an audio alert whenever price were to hit the horizontal line so that if I am not paying attention to...

    Sharpe Ratio useless

It favors systems that say have been live for 3 months vs systems that have been live for over 2 years. For example, the longer term systems usually will show a lower ratio and the 3 month system will tend to go down as time advances. So its pretty useless.

    Encountering Latency Issue with TWS

I use it with zenfire, but my understanding since I have had my computer turned off sometimes, is that orders sit at the exchange. The problem is that if you are doing a strategy for example say a trailing stop or if 1 contract hits target, 2nd contract stop moves up by so much, you do need to...

    Encountering Latency Issue with TWS

Surprised you don't use a better front end like NinjaTrader which does work with IB since you are obviously a professional trader who does this for a living.

    CL Redux

I finally have a good idea on how to trade CL, and my charts are frozen and I can no longer trade it. So sad. :-( Thankfully, can trade other futures with NinjaTrader. Still in contact with Ninjatrader support on this issue, maybe its because I was looking at AUG expiration...

Yes, if he either hires a trader who can produce a 30% or higher ROI, or picks a really good stock.

If you want to fail as a trader, study TA

What you need to understand is that there are indicators that profitable traders use, and there are indicators that you use. Also, when u assume a profitable trader will rely more on the indicator than the price, you make an a$$ out of yourself. To not just be critical, I will offer...

    Peak oil thread

What could be done to keep the price of oil down is to increase fuel efficiency requirements for cars, introduce more hybrids with incentives from the government, and also produce more electric cars. Price does change demand. As price of gas went up, more people bought hybrids and less...

    An Edge?

I think if you had no other information, you could sell a out of the money put and call. The following will usually happen: 1) Both expire worthless, you get to keep the money. 2) The market trends strongly to one side, and you are now underwater on that position. a) You have...

    New Rig....but xp32 bit is recommended !!!

Windows 7 pro will run XP applications including IB and Ninja Trader. I do currently have to run in 32 bit mode for Ninja Trader until they work with ZenFire to make 64 bit compatible mode, however, running NT 7 on Windows 7 is faster than running 6.5 on XP, this includes load times, and...

Interactive Brokers would not allow me to exercise

My covered calls were for $ 15/sh, and the stock closed at $ 15.11/sh. I wonder if someone will take control of my shares and it will be funny if they do and the stock opens up at $ 14.90/sh on Monday. I would assume I would need to wait till Tue to see what happens for sure unless I see the...

    ES Journal Archive (2009 - 2010)

Glad to be profitable for the day, but its always funny to see ES after stopping one out, go back up and reach your original target. However, the problem is on the day that you decide not to use stops, that is the day ES keeps trending in one direction leaving you trapped. My original stop...

    ES Journal Archive (2009 - 2010)

Had a long trade on ES which was starting to move in my favor, then also went long NG about a 1/2 hour later when I saw a good setup. NG hit my target, so decided to bring up stop on ES and also bring down target on ES. Well, ES shot back down and I got stopped out on that trade for around 1...

Break even day, mostly my fault. Had a good trade, set up automation for stops and targets, went to take a shower. Got back and saw trade was profitable for 1.5 points and that market went higher, but noticed I was in another position that I did not enter, which I killed for a .50 loss...

The new SMB 5-year career path program

I would not do a deal where you had to put up the money, no training is offered and you have to give them 25% of profits. If they provide training then that may be all right. If they don't provide training, then you should be able to keep 99% of all profits.
