A "Moderator" typically oversees a single forum, whereas a "Moderator*" has the ability to moderate across all the forums.

You can add people to your ignore list if you don't want to read their posts.

Yeah, you just click on the gray arrow shown to the right of the thread title to go to the last page. Alternatively, if you see a yellow icon to the left of the thread title, you click on that to go to the first post made in the thread since your last visit.

First of all, we aren't talking about monitoring a few people. There are approximately 1,500 first time posters each month. So adding another mod or two is not going to put much of dent in that load. Second, we have to add the functionality of putting new member's posts into a separate area...

Then just click on the complain button for the post(s) you're talking about so the mods can be alerted to it.

The vast majority of the time, we respond to complaint messages through editing/deleting posts, or warning/banning members. If the complain button is not used, then it shouldn't be assumed that the mods are aware of the problem.

That's certainly possible but I don't see why you wouldn't just use the bookmark feature of your web browser.
