    Fidelity Warning!

A couple of questions: What do you mean by high margin in IB? Do you mean margin interest rate is high in IB compared to Fidelity? !!!. Actually it is lower and it is over 5% lower. Please elaborate because my blood started to boil when I read your statement as I have used both and many other...

[IB newbie] Market data feed is not working?

I believe so but I am not 100% sure . You have to check in data subscription page. I just trade Stocks, options and ETFs. No Future and no Forex for me.

[IB newbie] Market data feed is not working?

since you don't trade even $30 worth of commission a month, check out your data subscription and if you are subscribed to it, you can un-subscribe to save $120 a year. When you want to trade, you can get your data from Yahoo and enter your trade using that data.

[IB newbie] Market data feed is not working?

One way you can do is to check your data subscription on data management page and see you have subscribed to the real time data or not. Other way is to compare a moving stock with the quote that you get through YAHOO Finance and see they are the same or not. Yahoo finance gives you real time...

[IB newbie] Market data feed is not working?

Also IB has lots of recorded webinars about different features of TWS. It is a good idea to watch them even if you might not use some of them. At least you would know they are there.

[IB newbie] Market data feed is not working?

Yes sign up for any data feed which are free even you don't know what they really mean (Like NYSE order imbalance). Also sign up for that $10 bundle and US options which are waived. You need to sign up for AMEX Level 1, NASDAQ Level 1 and NYSE Level 1 which are $1.5 each and are not waived if...

[IB newbie] Market data feed is not working?

I believe even after your account is funded, you need to go to account management page and on subscription data sign up for the real time data which will be $10 a month and then if your commission a month is over $30, it will be waived. By the way recently I realized that free real time (that...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

If we have lots of good news and then a bad news cause the market to go up because it delays the rate hike. But if we have consecutive bad news , market should go down. So far we had mixed news.

I am not sure how the market will react. As you said it should go up but not sure yet. I also see the inflation will pick up as the gas prices are back to as they were when oil was 100. I pay $3.90 for regular gas in California.

When is the right time to quit your job and trade full time?

You did not get my point. I was asking whether he is active and does short term trade and is ready to manage losses if market crashes and take the other side of his trade or just has some long term positions like AAPL and they are going up and he is happy. I know many people were almost on the...

When is the right time to quit your job and trade full time?

why do you think you are doing good in trading? Remember in the last 5 years, even a caveman with dumb stock picking is doing well. Did you buy AAPL and it went up and you call yourself good in trading? Do you hate your job because you love trading or you hate your job because you hate your job...

    Fidelity Warning!

I have been with IB with 11 years and will not switch to any other brokers. I have tried about 10 brokers. IB suits my needs. For low accounts IB will not be good and also if you trade less than $30 commission per month , you need to pay $10 data fee. So basically it is for those who are a...

    Altera Buyout

If INTC intention was to use Altera's programmable parts in its chips, it could easily be done by licensing in much lower price. So why INTC is buying ALTR? Well Lots of cash and no idea makes you do crazy things that does not make sense.

    Altera Buyout

ALTR volume is high because now it is a good candidate for scale or commission rebate trades since it is trading in a tight range.
