How can i bring this system to the next level

I thought about this too...a TST combine or similar like to get funded (although you can not successfully do this from work) or a prop firm (requires quitting your real job...the safety net). Yet, due to his current job and obligations with a child...a combine or prop firm is not suitable. Its...

How can i bring this system to the next level

Several people here at ET have used this option because going back to some school to learn how to be a programmer is not an option for most. Trading is not like it was 20 - 30 years ago where those with small accounts can get started "out of the gate" with little or no sacrifices. Back...

How can i bring this system to the next level

I agree. I'm a single father of two kids and I can easily understand your situation. Looks like multiple years to scale it to a decent size with 1 contract via the current job...most have done such. The other alternative is to fully automate your trading system...that in itself may still take...

How can i bring this system to the next level

What's your personal situation that prevents getting a 2nd job? Seriously, you can share that info...nobody knows who you are and where you live. For example, someone I know in the same situation via the info you've already provided...they couldn't do it too due to their spouse being...

How can i bring this system to the next level

Just get a 2nd job and save your money until you've reached the capital amount you need. Yeah, sure you won't have much of a social life but you will learn one thing that whatever friends you have now...they'll still be there after you quit your 2nd job...after earning your capitalization. I...

Is Daytrading difficult or impossible ?

I'm not being sarcastic but don't all indicators have a mathematical model ? It seems to me that the basic mathematical models are stuff like stochastics, MACD, moving averages and so on. In contrast, the more advance mathematical models are those used in HFT, algorithms and such. You can...

    Index Futures in the Off-Hours

Don't look at hindsight charts of the overnight trading session. Instead, monitor it real-time as its occurring including bid/ask/Time and Sales information. If you like what you see...backtest your trade method properly (a few weeks of looking at charts is not backtesting). Usually those...

Yellen Gets Bitcoin Trolled Before Congress

He was probably paid 50k to hold up the sign including bail money if arrested. I say that jokingly because I knew a guy that streaked naked at a football game but he only did it after a signed agreement that he would be paid 3x any fines levied against him. :sneaky: Anyways, I heard it was not...

Averaging down in day trading - when to take a loss?

Averaging Down is bad in my opinion but doing such in combo with "poor risk management" is just suicide. I've seen people get away with averaging down until they have that "poor risk management". That's when the big blowup happens...resulting in blowing out the account.

How do you know when successfully backtested strategy will succeed in real trading?

You'll be surprise by how many traders used the work "back tested" when in reality it was not properly backtested. Also, real money trading involves some elements that can not be duplicated in a back test. This forum ET is litter with trade journals that have poor real money trading results in...

    What's driving this low volume

Yes, it is low volume and the month of July is still not over...it still hasn't reached mid-month. Also, your research should have also shown you that its typical for the volume in the S&P 500 to "decline" from June to July. Yet, you probably noticed that at the current volume pace for this...

what ever happened to the daily P/L threads?

If you're still interested... I think I found the last thread called Trader P/L 2014 @ https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/trader-p-l-2014.280940/ Yet, if you want to look at the prior years...start with 2013 because the first post lists the links of all the prior years @...

    Losing days

Thanks for the clarification and apology not needed. Now that I know this is really a partial journal (the losing side) involving an automated trading system. Yet, I still don't understand how discussing specific losing trades will or can possibly reveal your automated trading system or your...

Is Daytrading difficult or impossible ?

Could it be due to the "risk management" department at their firm or maybe its in combo with the fact that the fund manager knows he/she is still getting paid via a salary from their firm. Thus, they will still get pay even when they call in sick for the day or get pay when they go on vacation...

    Losing days

Ok...so January, March, April and June are your profitable trading months even though you're only discussing your losing days and losing months. The issue that's a little confusing (maybe not for you) is that you're only discussing your losing days even though the month itself may be...
