AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

Thanks, I think the tick and adx may be useful if I trade futures again. I have found that if I am stopped out on a trade on both long and a short for forex, then we are in a range market, and I will place range trades. If I then feel that other traders are trying to game my strategy, I...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

That is a good question on how to determine market sentiment. Some days it does change from short to long. I am upset at myself for not taking a perfect setup on my forex trade last night. I waited too long, then I tried to chase it. Once I realized I was violating my rules, I killed the...

    Day-Trading 2.0 for small traders

Depends on your win% for stop placement. Please note that I don't use this system but my own for trading forex. My win% is around 60%, and most of my stops are just a tiny bit wider than my profit targets. However, if my stop has not been hit, I may sometimes add more to a trade, and bring...

What book should I read to really learn currency trading??

Technical analysis works on forex like everything else. However, I am not sure the people who wrote any of the books out there actually are profitable traders. Do they have a public track record? I use technical analysis to trade but not alot of indicators. You kind of need to see what...

    Is my broker trustworthy? (FXCM)

FXCM is not really the problem. I talked to a trader who made a $ million trading with FXCM, he never used hard stops, just mental stops. The only problem was one day he had to take his wife to the hospital, and a news event came out. So what stopped him out was the margin call of $...

    Question about a DOS command

what do you think would be an easy desktop command icon to automatically backup all files under my documents to an external hard drive and overwrite the old files that are there?

    "Scaling out" is inferior behavior

I agree that scaling out just does not seem to work for me. I think you need a reason to get in a trade and get out of a trade. The problem with scaling out and/or raising your stop loss is that you then bring in your stop to a point where the market usually hits it on a re-test of recent...

    “Teach Me to Trade”

How can they say they were not profitable traders? They traded $ 1 cd's for $ 40,000 in cash. They probably made more money than any of the real traders here including myself. Only stupid thing they did was to not recognize that their system would eventually fail, and plan for their...

A mentor for forming and marketing FX hedge funds

I would be interested in how you go about recruiting clients if you go the managed accounts route. I currently have people that pay me a fixed monthly fee for helping them auto trade Forex, but would rather manage a large fund. I also have over a years real money results. I don't have a...

    Forex hedging journal

The main reason to hedge a trade is that you want some protection if you are wrong assuming you don't already use a stop. For example, lets say you want to go long GBP/USD but if the trade goes against you, it will activate your EUR/USD short position. This way instead of having a hard...

    Forex hedging journal

I disagree, I think you can hedge the $ by being say long EUR/USD and short GBP/USD. However, the reason I have not done it in a very long time is that the GBP has stronger and longer range of movements in a short time frame than the EUR. This is why using this strategy by itself does not...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

I noticed that for over a year, I have around 60% win ratio in forex, however, the benefit of this thread for me is to try to get my winners to make more money than my losers where before it was equal. So my 1st attempt was to scale out of 1/2 my contracts and bring my stop up to break...

Could my computer be Hijacked ?

Sorry, she gave me a blow job, so I broke through your firewall and downloaded all your documents to her computer. I also copied all your trading secrets but after back testing them, could not see any edge and went back to trading my way. Good luck. :D

How's everyone doing in 2008 so far?

My stocks are down but many pay dividends so assuming we don't fall into a depression, I expect that they will be up in the long run. Other stocks I own are waiting for FDA approval so if they get it, then I should be up alot sooner. I am up so far year to date on forex trading so I guess...

    Need Some Advice

My understanding is you go to prop to either 1) Use their money to help you leverage your returns, but you are already a successful trader which it seems like you are not. or 2) You join a prop firm that will train you either by you paying for the training or because they believe in...

Why do I see "Trends" in Randomly Generated Data?

Lets look at a stock say BDSI. It has traded in a range for many years. However, it recently broke out of the range to the upside before falling back on profit taking. Now, I am sure there were traders that made money both going long and short based on price action or technicals...

    Danny's Forex Trading Journal

I did not use any indicators like you did, but worked the trade based on price and plan. Its hard to stay in longer after the trade went against me at 1st, and I dollar costed down per my plan. However, when I look back at the chart, it seems more obvious in hindsight what was happening...

    Danny's Forex Trading Journal

Yes, probably the hardest part for me is to scale in and out. I have been long the EUR since Sunday, and got out this morning but did not get to ride it up any higher like you did.

    Perfect fib retracement in EUR

I was long Eur Sun night but my position was under water on Monday, I decided to add a little more at the lows and was able to pull out with a profit today. Was not an easy trade since I don't like to stay in so long but I could have done even better if I had a higher profit target.
