    Vista is lame

Lucky for you, Win7 has been out for 2+years. It is built on the same core as Vista so all of the hardware drivers just work. I don't remember the last time I had a problem with any of my Vista boxes, nor my win7 box

    Quad core for trading?

in addition to bluebird's comments, even if the applications you run are not built to take advantage of multi-threading (and thus multi-core processors), if you run multiple different apps at the same time, you will benefit from a multi core processor since each app is going to have its own...

Does a credit score matter anymore?

I fucked over my credit back in college (about 10yrs ago now) and have not had any problems since. I have slowly repaid every creditor who I owe (just found out about one I missed during the process last year and paid it off). Yes, it took me 9 years to pay them off and not one of them was...

Windows 7 Will Let Microsoft Track Your Every Move - Webmonkey

Yeah, Microsoft is arriving really late to this pony show...or at least openly arriving late. They have been in the closet for a long time on this issue. Don't forget that everytime an application crashes on windows (even when it isn't a microsoft app), you are given the option to send a...

    Spybot - Any Good?

Interesting to know. I don't use IB. I would be more interested to find out if it is spybot that messes with IB or if it is Teatimer. You don't have to use the TeaTimer portion (it doesn't even have to be installed) and since TeaTimer is the only resident portion of spybot, I would suspect...

    Spybot - Any Good?

spybot + teatimer (teatimer is the resident app that guards the registry) Adaware (free version) Malwarebytes install all 3 as soon as you get a new computer or format an old one. Ignore all comerical firewall/av products and use windows firewall + a standard home router (even if you...

Windows 7 Will Let Microsoft Track Your Every Move - Webmonkey

You aren't gonna find a cell phone these days where you can fully disable GPS "out of the box". Even if you turn off usage reporting, it still updates and the govt can still find you. And even if you do go the route of a GPS jammer, there is still cell tower triangulation that can be used (and...

Windows 7 Will Let Microsoft Track Your Every Move - Webmonkey

It isn't illegal if you agree to it. Of course, the matter of forcing users to agree in order to use your software might be illegal (although hasn't been proven in court yet to my knowledge which makes it currently legal). But of course microsoft isn't doing that either since, according to...

Fair enough. I'm sure your family and friends will rest easy tonight knowing that you would theoretically take satisfaction/relief in killing another human being for a crime they didn't commit.

And you will be the first to die from a heart attack due to the stress required to fight the system... See, I can make baseless claims on the interwebs too!

Windows 7 Will Let Microsoft Track Your Every Move - Webmonkey

Oh there are hundreds of good things that can come from being constantly monitored. Lets say that the completely unrealistic "inhouse cameras" scenario comes to life... What happens if I fall down the stairs at home and noone is around to call 911? If someone is actively monitoring, it...

Windows 7 Will Let Microsoft Track Your Every Move - Webmonkey

I've been on this earth living in the united states for 30 years and not once have I been on the wrong side of the law for anything other than a speeding ticket (and I haven't had one of those or even been pulled over for 10years). I've literally "lived" on the internet (12+hrs per day) for...

Absolutely not. I'm not ashamed of what I do in my bathroom and I don't do anything illegal there either. And if a webcam in my bathroom were to bring pleasure to someone else without my knowledge, I'm ok with that too.

Windows 7 Will Let Microsoft Track Your Every Move - Webmonkey

why exactly do any of you care if Microsoft (or anyone else for that matter) are tracking you? Seriously think about it...why? I'm sure at least one of you will come back with "It's my right to privacy"...that excuse simply doesn't fly for me. Are you doing something illegal? Are you...

    Mac or PC?

as bugs said..just don't use it... You can plug any USB mouse into a mac and it will function (even with a right-click button). I always got a nice chuckle out of using a microsoft intelimouse on a mac back when microsoft mice were top notch

    Mac or PC?

As others have said. Mac/Linux not actually any more secure than windows. It's just that noone attacks macs. Also, a intelligent user will trump intelligent Antivirus/Antimalware 100% of the time. PCs are built to be cheap. And people who don't want to spend a lot on thier PCs generally...

    **use Google Chrome**

open beta software no longer exists... Once you open up software to the public, it is no longer beta. Companies have gotten into a habit of doing this simply for the CYA benefit. Unfortunately, with the advent and availability of the internet today, and the idiocy of "public opinion", it...

Dumb question about internet speed, as well as Shaw Nitro

It depends upon where the bottleneck is. If your orders are getting filled slow, that would imply the upload is the bottleneck. Keep in mind that if you are going from 400-600kbps up 1500mbps (1.5mb), you are getting 2.5-3.25 times the upload with the new line.
