To quote my colleague from Bear Stearns - "it covers the coffee stains on my shirt". Besides a few charity events (*), I have not worn a tie for the last 10 years or so. * I am convinced that the whole logic chain of the black tie charity events involves getting a wife to say "darling, I have...

Actually, I just realized that I do own a horse - I am supporting a horse rescue place in the Upstate New York and technically I own some of the animals there. So I am hypocrit :)

Should You Buy Bitcoin Right Now? Don’t Be Stupid

Gold would be just as useless in your scenario :) more importantly, bitcoin might work and might not, which means it has appreciation potential. Gold, on the other hand, has been more or less stagnant last 5-6 years despite all of the crazy gold bugs around. That's because it's a known entity...

Should You Buy Bitcoin Right Now? Don’t Be Stupid

Ah, I see. I was and still am sceptical about ApplePay - with their market share being under 40%, they can't expect too many people to adapt it quickly. Personally, I think where bitcoin could shine is micro-payments on the web - all of the infrastructure is there already. This said, I have...

There is still a tremendous interest in horses, despite total lack of practical purpose in owning one since the advent of the automobile. I do not own either, obviously.

Fitness and good care are orthogonal and complimentary to the quality clothing. Trust me :) PS. However, if the choice is fitness vs fancy clothes, choose fitness.

Should You Buy Bitcoin Right Now? Don’t Be Stupid

Huh, what? Bitcoin and ApplePay are completely different products and are competing for totally different market segments. I would think that bitcoins main competitors are various money-transfer companies like a la PayPal or WebMoney as well as payment networks (e.g. Visa).

Does anyone know what is the song at the end of this scene? I found myself whistling it today while on a bike ride and remembered where I heard it.

    908-square-foot home pulls in $2,550,000

LOL, it is you who was being unreasonable, offering him only 200k for the optionality to tear down and build multi-unit. You low-balled him, he high-balled you. That's how it works. The time when negotiations are complete is when both parties are in equal state of pain. PS. Anyway, a 7k empty...

My metric would be to look for a guy that looks comfortable and non-assuming no matter what he's wearing. It could be a suit and tie, or it could be jeans. BTW, I don't get the whole cult of watches - these things tell time worse then a cheap quartz Timex, what's the point? If you are thinking...

Axe. They are twisting the show a bit toward "lawman good, rich person bad", predictably so. Next season will see further deterioration of Axe into a negative character.

I have been pondering that question - when does one pull the plug on a car that has served you faithfully for many years. For example, I gave my 2003 Volvo XC70 to a friend when it hit 180 and i felt it was spending more time in the shop then on the road. Oddly enough, he's been driving it for a...

Something tells me that stuff that matters (e.g. ice axes and screws) you purchase from Black Diamond, Grivel or Petzl at "outrageous" prices. What you made your bivy bag from is less important :P
