    Trader P/L 2009

+ $134 Dismal trading today. It was the kind of day where I was patient looking for more movement and just ended up cutting profits that way. No losing trades, but there was a lot more $$ showing I shoulda grabbed.

When is a support or resistance broken

I only reviewed Jack's method very briefly when someone directed me to an old thread of Spydertrader's. I noticed that Jack's method reflected much of what I was learning this year. I really have no deep knowledge of SCT, but I've gotten a lot of insight from Jack's technical posts on ET as well...

When is a support or resistance broken

Because I still TRADE for a living (40% ROI this year), I don't have time to search through every post an ET member makes, searching for fuel to flame. I'm glad your trading prowess has brought you to such a level of financial independence that you have the time to engage in this thrilling pursuit.

When is a support or resistance broken

In your time frame, place a 20-period moving average. If the 20 MA is rising, price should find support at or near it and make a higher high; if it's falling price should find resistance against it and make a lower low. It's not a perfect science, but it gives you solid zones to work with, and...

When is a support or resistance broken

JPM had all the wrappings of a decent breakout there, but since it was to the downside in a strong up trending market and there was no real fundamental news to drive the stock price into a tailspin, chances of failure were higher than usual. JPM has looked really weak vs. the market lately...

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

No trading today, but after peeking at the chart for ES it looks like all the action was in the middle of the night, anyhow, so I didn't miss a whole lot! I know a few musicians and music lovers read this thread and just for fun I offer you some holiday cheer...

When is a support or resistance broken

Thanks for your kind words, and most of all for the posts; wow, a lot to digest. Looking forward to internalizing everything until it's second nature. The main thing I had to learn this year was patience (when to hold or wait) and how to avoid fighting the tape. Still working on it.

When is a support or resistance broken

I see this again and again, I recognize it via the bigger picture and the price action and some kind of instinct that talks to me, which I then PROCEED TO QUESTION, causing me to hesitate. Yes, I need 3 cars minimum to take care of letting my profits run. Still pissing with 1 most of the...

When is a support or resistance broken

I've done frequently with ES in my sim account with mixed results. The strongest follow-through seems to occur on a breakout of the high or low of the opening bar in your time frame (I trade 5-min intraday), but once a more distant S/R zone is tested, there are frequent false breakouts, and deep...

    What has fundamentally changed?

All gains retreat. Trees don't grow to the sky. Every bull run has pullbacks in the larger trend. When the run up outpaces fundamentals (as in real estate values doubling every few years), the pullback will be more extreme. When the run up is built on massive leverage, when there's no...

    What has fundamentally changed?

We "bailed out" large financial institutions that held billions in unrealized losses on their books due to the collapse of real estate value. Real estate has not increased in value since the bailout, and there are still more ARM reset cycles coming, resulting in additional foreclosures and...

All the "top is in" threads have vanished for weeks

I'm still pretty new to the markets, but this is a "strong sell" signal, correct?

    A mini ES scalper's journal

I believe you are overtrading for the smallest moves and will end up churning your profits. The first 2 hours and last hour contain the best moves. You can use volume and momentum to capture 3 or more pts, or you can enter counter-trend after the the initial move is exhausted. If you use a...

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

Hog, I also subscribed to his journal and found this initial post quite surprising. I tried that route in sim and when you grab a pt or two and see a 3-10 handle move transpire after you exit the trade, it becomes very frustrating. I see that in the first 2 hours and last hour of trading ES...

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

Thanks for your kind words. But I went through hell to get to this same point in the first quarter this year and managed to screw up yet again. Let's see how long I can maintain my patience and discipline this time.
