us economy dip less than feared

I have provided various statistics ( see the above post ) to prove my point. In fact, if anyone has been simply "tossing" out vague, unsubstantiated "generalizations" . . . it is you. Everyone knows that the U.S. GDP turned negative in the July-September quarter of 2008. It is also...

us economy dip less than feared

It hasn't. You are wrong again. The GDP has fallen now for the last 3 quarters, which is the first time that that has happened in nearly forty years. Even so, the economy is still pumping out over $14.3 trillion dollars worth of GDP.

us economy dip less than feared

Wrong again. Corporate America continues to generate profits . . . just not at the same pace and growth levels of last year. Intel is making money, IBM is making money, Lockheed Martin is making money - - - even economically sensitive Caterpillar is still making money . . . just not as much...

us economy dip less than feared

True. But it's totally pointless to even try and trade the stock market off of these "summaries". As we all know, the market discounts economic recoveries, and will be much higher even as unemployment numbers continue to deteriorate/stagnate. That having been said, the interesting part of...

They really shouldn't let kids play on the Internet. Goodbye.

us economy dip less than feared

Wrong. Corporations will NOT pay down long-term debt with interest rates at current low levels. It does not make any sense for them to do so because the money can be put into capital projects that have much higher rates of return, or they can buy back their stock ( if they are publicly...

The notes and bonds that the US Government auctions off are for the running of the Federal government, not Corporate America. You are confusing the two.

us economy dip less than feared

Not true on ALL points. You seem to discount the FACT that there is a tremendous amount of overcapacity out there right now in the economy. Inventories are extremely LOW. Any kind of "uptick" in consumer demand will cause quite a big rebound in the Economy. As to your last point...

us economy dip less than feared

Really now??? That's funny. All of those Treasury auctions last week seemed to go quite well, with DEMAND outstripping the supply as yields continued to decline after the auction. In case you missed it, $35 BILLION of 3-year notes were auctioned, as well as $19 BILLION in 10-year notes...

Obama's citizenship case reaches Superior Court of California

If it doesn't make any difference, then why even post that you never saw it??? Congrats. Your logic is still as "twisted" as ever. :D

us economy dip less than feared

Not true at all. Increased consumer consumption means increased demand for goods and services, which causes corporations and manufacturers to increase their inventories and possibly retool and expand in order to meet demand, which can lead to hiring new workers. Your economic view is far too...

us economy dip less than feared

Not true at all. The Fed has plenty of "bullets" left, some of which have already been announced, but not used. Have you taken a look at the Fed's balance sheet lately? You might find it rather informative.

us economy dip less than feared

You act as if the majority of Americans are unemployed. That obviously is not the case. There are plenty of Americans that continue to be EMPLOYED. They are paying down debt, increasing their savings rate, are being cautious with their spending, but continue to work and receive a...

us economy dip less than feared

No it does not. One does not solely need a decrease in the unemployment rate in order to stimulate a recovery. You simply need consumers to stop being so cautious, and start spending money again with a more confident outlook. Fed Chairman Bernanke seems to agree with me . . . Federal...

Your first post in over 3 years??? What cave did you crawl out of? Or is that one of MANY ALIASES? :D Or is this one of those "archived" screen-names that gets pulled out of the "warehouse" and used to generate web-activity for Baron?

Port, no one cares. Try and be good to the nurses at Bellevue, and stop hogging the computer out in the lobby . . . others would like to use it as well to check their e-mail. They don't post 24/7 on ET like you do. Are visiting hours over yet? It must get really LONELY over there.

    Cap & Trade via Landis

Wrong. You really need to do your homework on ACESA. Big Coal gets a waiver until 2025. Agribusiness is EXEMPT altogether even though it's responsible for up to 1/4 of greenhouse gas emissions. The legislation that passed the House contains enough loopholes to make its claimed...

Obama's citizenship case reaches Superior Court of California

As you can see, I already played that "game" here on ET with Port-1385 and one of his half dozen aliases (Pens Win) . . . but he and the other ET resident clown Gigsup (also known as giggles :D ) wimped out...

Did you not read the part where the Fed upped its growth forecast looking for the Economy to only "shrink" between 1-1.5% as opposed to their previous forecast of 1.3-2.0% Are you not aware that the unemployment rate lags an economic recovery? Everyone knows that.
