Eric Bolling: Cut losers quick is the key to making money.

This is a good post because it reveals one of the biggest mistakes that even "seasoned" traders make. THE TREND IS YOUR FRIEND. First, identify the trend and trade accordingly . . . with the trend. It will make life a helluva lot easier! :D

Eric Bolling: Cut losers quick is the key to making money.

One must remember that Eric is by training, an OIL MARKET trader, which means that he is a SPREAD trader. My guess is that 90% of his trading involves spreads, with only the occasional "outright" directional position trade.

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz

That is so overpriced for the kind of processor and specs on that machine, it isn't even funny.

    seeking multi-monitor advise

You need to become more familiar with your computer. The Dell website says that the XPS-400 comes with an Intel 945P chipset that has 4 DIMM slots for DDR2-533 MHz SDRAM memory, AND 3 PCI slots to go along with a PCIe x 1 slot, a PCIe x 4 slot, and a PCIe x 16 graphics slot. You should have...

For You PC Power Jockeys... Dell Precision T3400

This is probably my biggest gripe about using Dell. By in large, most of the sales force is VERY young and lacks sufficient training. In fact, I have come across a lot of Dell SALES PEOPLE that really have no idea about the basic "specs" of a computer, let alone talking about power supplies...

    Making PC faster

Very true. And given that you are on Windows XP ( and not that memory "hog" called Vista ) I'm sure that you have enough memory resources to operate various software apps.

For You PC Power Jockeys... Dell Precision T3400

Just got my Vostro-400 from Dell Business Refurbished Outlet. Unfortuntely, my keyboard was dead on arrival and I could not boot up the machine. The keyboard appeared to have a cable that was slightly crimped. In any event, Dell sent me out a new keyboard that same day. It arrived this...

New PC. What to do now?

It's not just about SPEED with your Internet connection. You need to check to see what kind of "latency" you have over the transfer hops of the Internet. Simply do a "trace-route" by bringing up your DOS prompt. Type in: tracert (space) and then the IP address of where you connect to for...

    CNBC...new lows (if that's possible)

Bob, I think that you can get Bloomberg news via their webcast. Because I trade remotely, it plays havoc with my Nortel VNL client connection to my trading platform. Not sure how that would effect you, but you could probably set-up a separate computer connected to the Internet and the...

New PC. What to do now?

Just be sure to make certain that you are using a high quality splitter. Try and get one from your cable guy. They all look the same from the outside, but the one that the cable guy uses is a lot better. His costs $10.00 each for a "reason" vs the cheapie that you get at the local Radio Shack.

For You PC Power Jockeys... Dell Precision T3400

Thanks Gnome. An excellent point and one that I am already well aware of. I believe that the 300 watt PSU that comes on my Dell Vostro-400 has some pretty strong "rails" that actually make it outperform many other 400w and even 500w aftermarket power supplies from Antec and others. For...

For You PC Power Jockeys... Dell Precision T3400

You are more than welcome! The inventory comes and goes. You just got to keep checking every day, morning and night. Not sure if there is more to choose from at the end of the month, beginning of the month, or what. The refurbished computers are ALL brand new Dell's that were "returned"...

    Thinkorswim platform: speed issue

There have no doubt been some "networking" issues over the past several weeks with various data-feeds given that we are now seeing 60-80,000 updates PER SECOND!!! You should go to your DOS prompt and run a "trace-route" ( type: tracert, then one space, then the IP address of the server )...

    Doesn't anyone remember 2000?

And what experience do you have? You were around in 2000? Don't make me laugh. Try 1981-1982 or Maybe even 1973-1974 Then get back to us, Mr. Voice of experience! :D

For You PC Power Jockeys... Dell Precision T3400

I'm a BIG FAN of the Dell Oulet sites! Have just purchased my 3rd computer from them . . . this time a Vostro 400 from the Business Outlet site, and an E6850 at 3.00 GHz. with the 4MB of L2 cache and 2 Gigs of 800 Mhz. RAM and a 1333 FSB on Windows XP with an Nvidia 8600 GT 256mb PCI-Express...

    Anvil problems this morning?

I have had no problems whatsoever today and I am trading "remote" from Northern California. No disconnects, no crossed L2 quotes. I just ran a trace-route to the server back in New Jersey ( at 11:45am PST ) and am averaging 88ms, just like usual. Anvil has been solid for me.

    Video Card Plan Fails

I asked an Nvidia tech a couple of weeks ago ( in anticipation of my new rig ) about what I can run in my PCI-slot ( not the Express slots ) that will support a 3rd and 4th monitor on Windows XP, with their Nvidia "Nview" multi-monitor software application. He pointed me to this $70.00...
