    This Market Sucks!!!

First off, I am not "long" the market. Secondly, if the FED was so concerned about the stockmarket entering a BEAR phase, then why did they wait to ease in any dramatic sort of way until mid-January when the market had already broken "hard" back in August, and then again in November...

    This Market Sucks!!!

But it's nice to know that if you have a positive attitude you can make money in this market, right? :D

Jeff, the computer never powered "on" with both cards installed. That has been the issue from the very beginning. Also, the computer will not power "on" with only the 6200 PCI slot card installed. ( for what it's worth, the card is fine because it worked in my old Dell Dimension 8300 with no...

So how do all the "pro's" feel about not watching CNBC?

I guess you've never heard of Bloomberg. :p

    This Market Sucks!!!

You are a freaking MORON. The banking system is literally "broken" and all you do is jump up and down like a 2 year old whose Mommy just took your Hershey bar away . . . It's not about the stockmarket you FOOL.

My BIOS only provides for one setting. It does not allow for any kind of sequence. I currently have the "Initial Display First" set at: PCI-Express

Understood. That would literally be the ONLY configuration that I have yet to try, as I believe that I still had "PCI-Express" enabled as my "Initial Display First" instead of what Dell calls the "PCI-slot" option. It is interesting to note that what Dell calls the "PCI-slot" option ( in...

1.) I do not believe that there is a feature in my BIOS that allows me to enable/disable the PCI bus controller. As it is, I am showing no hardware conflicts in "Device Manager". 2.) Yes, I did not originally have the PCI-Express enabled as my "Initial Display First". It is now. But I am...

For You PC Power Jockeys... Dell Precision T3400

I have a Vostro-400. It came with a dual-dvi output GeForce8600 GTS graphics card in the PCI-Express x16 slot. It also comes with 2 "regular" PCI slots, and 1 PCI-Express x1 slot.

The PC does not beep. And yes, I did enable the PCI-Express as my "Initial Display First" in the Advanced Chipset Feature of my BIOS. Not sure about the PCI bus being enabled in the BIOS. I will see if I can check that. Thanks.

I just installed the GeForce 6200 PCI card into the PCI-slot of my old Dell Dimension 8300 ( after taking out the GeForce FX-5700 that I had in the AGP slot ). This old trusty Dell has worked fine for years supporting 3 monitors via an old GeForce MX-440 PCI slot card. Guess what? The...

    seeking multi-monitor advise

No, I did not. I simply installed the latest drivers from NVidia. This is a brand new computer, and for what it's worth the same drivers that drive the 8600 GTS ( 8-series ) also drive the 6200 that I was trying to install in my PCI-slot.

I just tried installing the GeForce 6200 in the PCI-slot all by itself with no card in the PCI-Express slot. Computer still fails to power on. :( Either I have yet another "dead" 6200 PCI card, or I have some "dead" PCI-slots on my new Dell Vostro-400 motherboard. I will now install...

I believe that the only way that these ETers have been able to make such a configuration work is because they have not been using the GeForce "8" series with the Quadro NVS cards that you speak of. In fact, Nvidia says that the Quadro NVS cards are NOT compatible with the "8" series.

Again, one of the only things left to try is to simply install the 6200 PCI-slot card without the 8600 GTS PCI-Express card and to see if the computer finally boots up. If power comes on ( and the card works), then I know that the PCI-slots are good on the mobo, and that the card is in good...

    seeking multi-monitor advise

Yes, I am running Windows XP Pro. I just spoke to a tech at Nvidia and they are telling me that I will not be able to run a Quadro4 NVS290 PCI-Express 1x card with the 8600 GTS PCI-Express 16x card. I think that there reasoning behind this is that these cards require different drivers due to...

    seeking multi-monitor advise

At this point, it is quite possible that with the "newer" motherboards there is an interest in not allowing additional PCI slot graphics cards because of the rather large disparity in bandwidth, speed, specs, etc., as compared to what is running in most everyone's PCI-Express (16x) slot. One...

Gnome, There is no "second" video card driver. The latest NVidia driver for the 8600 GTS PCI-Express card is the same for the GeForce 6200 series as well. You can check the NVidia website to confirm, or ask an NVidia tech as I did.

    Comcast Ups Speed with "Blast"

It looks like Comcast has been "fine-tuning" the "Blast" service over the past few days. With my router in place, I was getting 5.1 mb on the download back to NYC. Today, I have been getting close to 7.5 across the board, including back to NYC. The upload is still about the same as...
