    If You Use A Router . . .

Remember that you might need to change it out every now and then just to keep up with better technology . . . even if you have a very basic 4-port "wired" Router. For Example, today I just found out that my Belkin 4-port Cable Gateway Router that is 4-5 years old is Version 1033. I am told...

One FINAL NOTE about this treasure hunt . . . Remember how I put the eVGA GeForce 6200 PCI card in the PCI slot of my Dimension 8300 all by itself and without the FX-5700 AGP card and the 6200 worked fine? The computer powered "on" and windows booted with no issues whatsoever? Well, I put...

Agreed 100% By the way, Dell was great! They even offered me $50 to hold onto my system, but I still had to decline. The 21-days starts on the shipping date, and I was a couple of days past, but they were cool with it. Onto the T3400! :p

I am checking into the T3400 as we speak. Just hope my 21-day return policy still is intact and that I haven't gone past . . .

True. But I am now told that I am unable to "log-in" to my remote trading software application TWICE. This prevents me from running my trading platform via 2 separate computers. The only realistic way around this is to sign-up with Realtick ( or one of the other charting application...

Again, it appears that the PCI-Express 16x slot winds-up disabling everthing else. So no, you cannot even use the x1 slot for an x1 card like an NVS-290. This really sucks.

Sadly, it appears that many of the newer Dell motherboards no longer support installing an additional PCI-slot type graphics card. It is a LIMITATION of the Foxconn "G33" motherboard. Looks like I will be investing in some big ass 24" displays in order to get the screen space that I want...

    High Speed Internet

Also make sure that you have the current VERSION of your Router. I just replaced a Belkin 4-port wired Cable/DSL router, same model number, but newer, more current version and my download speeds INCREASED DRAMATICALLY. The older version ( 1000 ) that I've had for the last 4-5 years was...

Yes, your "watch" list is too big given what your data provider is able to support ( in my opinion ). Also, you have no idea how much bandwidth gets taken up by running a Level-2 market maker box for the SPY's which obviously is much more data "intensive" than other quotes . . . Also, that...

    High Speed Internet

My wired router dramatically cuts my speed as long as I stay on the Comcast local fiber-optic network here in California. But..... as soon as I go outside of California, the speed "cut" is not nearly as dramatic. Try doing a speedtest via "SpeakEasy" back to Chicago and NYC and let me know...

    High Speed Internet

Was just on the phone with a Linksys rep who tells me that the WIN-port technology has been advanced to the point of now keeping up with the latest speeds offered by the broadband companies. Also comes with an excellent state of the art firewall too! He suggested that I get the RVS-4000...

    High Speed Internet

Yeah, my uploads have been 3.0 across the board ( in and out of California ), with the "Blast" service. Originially, I was only getting 5.1 mb to NYC via Speakeasy server tests, now I am getting up in the 7.4 mb area with a 2.6 upload. I think that Comcast is dialing in the new service week to...

    High Speed Internet

Dustin thanks so much for the FYI! I recently upgraded to the Comcast "Blast" high performance service for an additional $10.00 per month. They advertise the proverbial "Up To 16mb" speed on downloads. I am now getting around 7.4mb back to the servers in NYC, and even better uploads than...

Building My Trading Rig (A Documentary)

I'd rather purchase the Corsair VX-450W with a single +12v rail at 33A for $80.00 at NewEgg. Although it is interesting to note that both the +3.3v rail and +5v rails are rated at 20A while the "Silencer-470" by PC Power & Cooling are rated at 28A and 32A respectively. ( +12V rail at 26A )...

Understood. I believe you are correct, it is a Foxconn motherboard. But I am not trying to use Nvidia NVS chipsets; only the GeForce series, which Nvidia says are in fact compatible. I shall find out more come Monday afternoon. Stay tuned!

Building My Trading Rig (A Documentary)

I'm not a big fan of multiple +12v rail power supplies. Besides, I believe that PC Power & Cooling has units that would blow the Corsair or the Antec Solo away. As it is, an 18 amp +12v rail is not a big deal. The 300w power supply in my Dell Vostro-400 comes with an 18 amp +12v rail!
