Echotrade

(Preface: I'm talking about business in general. I trade with Echo, and have a very favorable opinion of the firm.) Wait 'till any of you has a signed legal document, gets totally screwed over, and tries to do anything about it. The court system is a joke, lawyers cost too much, and...

    Amsterdam - Office Space available

Is it one of those tiny offices with a glass door and a bed? Because I tried renting one of those once. I couldn't really get any work done... and my ass was very sore the next day.

Do Traders have a high alcoholic Rate?

Very popular here, Goose is on many taps across the city. Comparable to Sam Adams, don't you think? Guess I shouldn't be surprised that a bottle wandered out that far east. Thanks to brands like Goose Island, American brewing is no longer a joke compared to Europe. Ironically, the better...

Chavez: U.S. planning to invade Venezuela

In the Muslim Arab world, Bin Laden's terrorism has a higher percentage of support than the Democratic (or Republican) Party has in the U.S. Koran huggers keep trying to hit me with Pew Global's surveys, as evidence that terrorists do not represent the majority of Muslims. Let's take a closer...

Chavez: U.S. planning to invade Venezuela

OK, very good points. ****Frankly I just don't have dual loyalties in this matter, I don't believe america should be losing thousands of soldiers and wasting hundreds of billions of dollars for Israel's sake.*** --> I don't either, of course. However, part of me still can't help but be...

Chavez: U.S. planning to invade Venezuela

...But Saddam sure as hell was an alarming threat to Israel. Serious question for you triple d, as someone who cares about both the U.S. and Israel, how can you not have mixed feelings over Saddam's demise? I sure do.

    Traders having ADD?

Does anyone else with ADD get so distracted by a 'minor' flaw, that it completely ruins the entire picture? The best example I can present, is the fact that to me, one big ugly mole can completely destroy the beauty of an otherwise attractive female. Quote from Rearden Metal: Until...

motely fool says 95% onfday traders out in 6 months

In the snake pit of vendors, only one trader has the talent & integrity to be worthy of consideration. Her name is LBR.

Correlation between P/L and use of stop orders...

There is none. I just re-assess what I think the stock will do next.

    Biggest day ever

The same suckers who lost billions to us every month back then: People investing their 401K money in shitty mutual funds like Janus & Invesco, of course. Run by managers who probably take the short bus to work, equity mutual funds in these and most other fund families are virtually guaranteed...

Correlation between P/L and use of stop orders...

Here's something that even decade+ veteran traders have trouble understanding: The market does not know or care where you got in! 'Being up' or 'being down' on a position shouldn't ever change the way you trade it. The market has no idea where you got in. To me it's not about right or...

    Biggest day ever

Not really, but just by looking at THIS: ...I know I had decent six-figure days on both April 4th and April 11th, 2000. God I miss the good 'ol days! Edit: you can ignore the buy signal/sell signal snake-oil gibberish marring the chart (First one I found on the net). Just look at the...

Correlation between P/L and use of stop orders...

The poll results came pretty much as I had expected. My theory was that stop orders are synonymous with detachment and laziness. I've met many traders making 6-8 figures/year, and not one of them EVER uses stop orders.

    Biggest day ever

I started trading in '93, but not professionally until '96. I had on about 1/2 mil short big S&P in my personal account (For those who don't know, $1/2 mil initial margin requirement in S&P futures equals roughly $8 mil in unleveraged SPY), plus about $1/4 mil short mini S&P in one prop...

    Steve Schonfeld...a billionaire?

Honestly, I wish I knew. Many of you know that I was Dmitry's first clerk ever. He taught me how to daytrade in '96, back when the entire sum of his career gross trading profits was under half a mil. A devotee of Ayn Rand's philosophy, my name here probably wouldn't be Rearden Metal if not...

Do Traders have a high alcoholic Rate?

My cousin is one of the scientists who worked on the Human Genome Project. He recently discovered a gene, unique to people of European-Jewish ethnicity, that renders us far less likely to become problem drinkers/alcoholics. (That's not to say that Jews don't drink.) Think about it, how...

    Steve Schonfeld...a billionaire?

By the way, the easiest thing to do when meeting Steve Schonfeld (or watching him on TV) is to completely misjudge him. While on the surface he can easily give the false impression that he's an egotistical, cocky, selfish playboy asshole...I'm telling you that while the egotistical part...

    Steve Schonfeld...a billionaire?

No, not quite yet, but I'd estimate he's almost halfway there. Not really from the prop trading business, but mostly from investing very heavily in uber-genius Dmitry Balyasny's Atlas Fund.
