Yeah - I'm obviously a newbie. With regard to the NYSE - market makers don't work after-hours. You are only trading with the brokers and their inventory, so yeah, they matter. I didn't think that needed mentioning. Regards, edit: here's NASDAQ's policy:

You're comparing apples to oranges though. Your stock goes up 8% because that's what it takes for it to be worth the same amount as it was worth before the cut. That 8% in USD represents a real NET increase of 0% in value. Regards,

You really don't. The reason they go up is because it takes more dollars to equal what a dollar was worth before the cut. The equities are proxies for an intrinsic value. We all hope they go up proportionally with the rate cut, but they rarely do. The only way you make money is to be faster...

Agreed this is a sucker's bet. IMO, for what it's worth, I see a bottom being put in for the US markets. There is no doubt the market will go higher due to manipulation, but that's the Fed's mandate: keep inflation stable. Most of you will argue they are not doing that, but there are a lot...
