Fianancials shares rallied, yet fundamentals remain weak?

I would disagree. Individual stocks in bear-market rallies don't move up 50% in 2 sessions. It's blatant that there was manipulation going on. I doubt if anything serious will come of it though.

Fianancials shares rallied, yet fundamentals remain weak?

My background is tech and energy so I'm hesitant to give any kind of authoritative comment on Financials. However, I think what we saw earlier this week was a fire[drill]-sale. The fact is that a good number of institutions have/had bad risk management and that the market will shake them out...

That tells me the original premise that the "fundamentals are weak" is incorrect. Regards,

    GOOG suckers

I came in today expecting all the google Fan-boys to be in here pimping why I am, and continue to be, "so wrong" and that "google is unstopable". The only thing I can figure is that you google bulls are all sore that I now have your money. That dig aside, I really would like to hear from...

SEC Subpoenas 50 Hedge Funds In Lehman (LEH), Bear (JPM) Rumor Sting

Incorrect. They were leveraged so much because they had no reason to not be: they had great lines of credit and were operating fine. It's only when the rumors started that the credit lines were pulled, meaning they couldn't get loans to keep their positions open. If they could have kept those...

    I like Gold

Throughout all this recent mess(i.e. the past 18 months) gold has been a stalwart among all the various derivatives, currencies and exotic products. IMO, when it hits 1000 USD, there is a real problem for the greenback. Everything else, even the bank failures, are just window dressing.

This is what a 'bank run' looks like...

In all honesty, these banks need to fail. Yes it will be painful, but they made bad decisions and had poor risk-management. Likewise the people that had >100k in these banks also need to learn the painful lesson. If people have substantial assets they should be smart enough to learn how...

    Bear Raid on WaMu?

Anyone have any information on why they are getting beat-up so bad? edit: National City was halted earlier. Who's cleaning up on the puts? Is there really that much fear that the entire baking sector is vulnerable to this guff?
