    Church Tax, Wadda ya think?

There are certainly other reasons, but tax breaks are one of those reasons. I quite enjoy the way I live. Freedom FROM religion. I'm not afraid I'll burn in hell if I don't talk to myself before bed every night. And I enjoy sleeping in on Sundays after drinking all night Saturday.

    Church Tax, Wadda ya think?

If the church really did give all money as humanitarian aid, etc., then they have nothing to worry about. Charitable donations and whatnot should be deductible just like any other corporation. Someone posted an article on ET once about how some government spent $20,000 to renovate a giant...

USA stocks 0% profit for past 10 years

That calculation doesn't seem to take into account reinvested dividends.....which is massive.

    Church Tax, Wadda ya think?

Churches should absolutely have to pay taxes. This is actually one of the main reasons I despise religion. Just because I believe or don't believe in certain things does not mean I should have to pay taxes and you don't.

Why are you trying to pass off a Bill Maher quote as your own?

The aid that Israel delivers to the ungrateful Gazans who try to murder them.

The middle east situation wouldn't even exist if there were no religion. Thanks, religion.

    Canada Q1 growth most in a decade - 6.1% - 2x USA growth

With all due respect, your opinion is based on your personal experiences and anecdotal evidence. I appreciate the fact that you know many immigrants in the GTA who are abusing the system, but I am not convinced it's indicative of the majority of immigrants across the country. My personal...

    Canada Q1 growth most in a decade - 6.1% - 2x USA growth

Immigrants don't cause an increase in health care costs...you need a government issued health card to get most services, therefore you are presumably in the country legally, and therefore presumably pay taxes as any other Canadian citizen. The ageing population is the cause for rising...

    Canada Q1 growth most in a decade - 6.1% - 2x USA growth

I disagree. The future has never been brighter for Canada, both economically and politically. Having the Conservatives in power for so long now has turned back the socialism trend. The fact that they currently enjoy a large lead in the polls suggests that the country is moving even further...

    Canada Q1 growth most in a decade - 6.1% - 2x USA growth

New trade deals with China, India, and the EU are assuring that in the future the Canadian economy will be less dependent on the USA. Still the most important relationship and always will be, but at least not AS dependent. Canada and the EU are ahead of schedule on a new trade deal that is...

    Canada Q1 growth most in a decade - 6.1% - 2x USA growth

Housing values are still rising at a faster rate than investment in new housing. Housing values YOY are growing at 12%. I think there is still room for more housing supply as supply has not yet kept up with demand. If anything, more investment will stop prices from overheating...

Cramer - Canada = investing hot spot

Gaurenteed against default or not, the fact of the matter is they did not need that gaurentee because they do not take excessive risk that threatens the entire financial system.

    Atheists....whats your story?

The way I see it is - 20K that is 100% sure to be a waste, or 20K that at least has a chance to be of use. Even if just $10 is spent on those kids to get them some pencils or something.

I would rather see the money go to the kids then some useless cross. It's not their fault their parents are fucked up and leeching.
