Obama to G20: USA to halve deficit by 2013

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/10353247.stm This might be old news to some, but it's the first I've heard of this ambitous plan. Obama, in a letter to G20 leaders that stresses the need to not withdraw stimulus too quickly, has stated that the USA will reduce their budget deficit in...

I've been car shopping for the past three weeks and cars are cheap right now. Dealers have all kinds of crazy deals going on.

The board did vote. They voted to suspend dividend payments, and reevaluate in 2011.

BP is gone. Under 5 in 12 months

You guys can argue about the end cost until you're blue in the face. The fact of the matter is we won't know the total cost for years to come. To say that $20 billion is approximate is just a guess and is not based on fact. To say that $20 billion is way too high is also just a guess and is...

    Consumer prices keep posting declines.

I don't know what your government uses, but in Canada it is typically 2%. In any case it doesn't matter. Volatile food and energy prices means that CPI can be more or less than core CPI at any time. It makes no difference. Get real and think before spouting.

    Consumer prices keep posting declines.

The "government" doesn't do anything. There are two numbers, CPI/PPI and core CPI/PPI. Core excludes food and energy, the other doesn't. Both numbers are published.

Why raise rates when deflation still present? May PPI -0.3%

Is energy not an expense? You can't disclude energy just because it doesn't support your thesis. Volatile or not, energy prices have an impact on ALL prices in the economy. The price of energy is EXTREMELY important. Instead of pretending you can predict the future, why don't we wait...

Why raise rates when deflation still present? May PPI -0.3%

I realize this. My question is why would the Fed want to defend the dollar?

Why raise rates when deflation still present? May PPI -0.3%

    1. Deflation is not an object, it's a process. 2. MoM PPI is much more relevant. Unless you are "trading" long term (looking years ahead instead of months). If PPI decreases for 5 straight years, will you claim we still don't have deflation because over the entire history of the...

god destroys jesus statue but leaves adult bookstore untouched.

:D God's accuracy is not what it once was! Why did god choose to strike down this statue? Well of course he had a reasonable, intelligent, well thought out reason. The problem is, we are only humans and cannot possibly understand why god does what god does! :D

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aVs.paA8fUzQ&pos=2 Still no inflation. Deflation still a very large threat. How can the Fed justify raising rates in this environment?

Official 2010 World Cup ET Headquarters

Of course players dive to potentially help their team via free kick or what have you. But it's a matter of integrity, both for the player and for the game. In soccer, it's part of the culture. In hockey, those who are caught diving are severely looked down upon and ridiculed by the media...
