What happened to BuyLo

Capitulated. Went long and is embarrassed to admit defeat after being wrong for so very, very long. :D

CAD banks still look strong - profit up, revenue up, provisions down - BMO

Good stuff, at least someone is making money from that trend. My investments denominated in USD sure don't like it.

CAD banks still look strong - profit up, revenue up, provisions down - BMO

To be honest, I am not very familiar with Sprott and their motivations. I am also not disputing their numbers (although I haven't verified them either), but I would think that somebody else somewhere would have picked up on this. To the best of my knowledge, Canadian banks have not needed nor...

    Where's deflation ? The Fed's double standard

Indeed. A more accurate definition would to simply say increasing/decreasing asset values. Both of which can be combated through monetary policy, of which money supply is a tool.

    Where's deflation ? The Fed's double standard

LOL my mistake. I didn't realize I was dealing with one of those government conspiracy types. I guess all central banks are in on this scam together, and have been for a very long time... Kudos to you for discovering their covert plan.

Need a dialogue on this ECO101...

A country's resources are certainly scarce. I suppose you could make the claim that a country's resources aren't scarce because we could land on Mars some day and potentially find oil, but let's be realistic here...

CIBC: http://ca.news.finance.yahoo.com/s/03122009/30/link-f-cnw-cibc-announces-fourth-quarter-fiscal-2009-results.html Was a wild card coming in. Posted great numbers. Tier 1 and total capital ratios = 12.1% and 16.1%. 5.8% dividend yield

National Bank: http://ca.news.finance.yahoo.com/s/03122009/2/biz-finance-national-bank-net-profits-revenues-soar-fourth-quarter.html Smashed last years numbers. Up on profit and revenue. Provisions up slightly ($5M). 3.84% dividend yield

    Where's deflation ? The Fed's double standard

Great. You've laid out brief definitions of inflation and deflation. Now please explain to me how my analysis of a deflationary period is wrong. I don't think you can, because I think my analysis is correct. Hint - there is a reason why central banks have an inflation target of...

Answering a question with a question.....awesome. Google your high school bullshit definitions.

Bank of America Will Repay $45 Billion to U.S. Bailout Fund

Perhaps. And I'm sure some investors will do that. But all else being equal, transaction costs may deter some investors from reallocating their capital elsewhere.

Bank of America Will Repay $45 Billion to U.S. Bailout Fund

Efficient market doesn't care about short run. It looks at future expected earnings. If this news is considered positive for future expected earnings (which I believe it is), price will go up. Think of it this way, the loss from dilution is more than offset by higher expected future...

    Where's deflation ? The Fed's double standard

You would get royally fucked in a deflationary environment, I am sure of it. It's not necessarily the PRICE ALONE that causes consumers to delay purchases (although it is a major contributer). Good luck paying off that $300K mortgage you just took out when you are now making x% less wages...

Bank of America Will Repay $45 Billion to U.S. Bailout Fund

I think you're thinking too short term. Long term for BOA, it's good to have the government out of your hair. Good to be able to pay your employees whatever you want, maybe even find a CEO to run your company. Dilution sucks balls for shareholders in the short term but long term this is good...

Bank of America Will Repay $45 Billion to U.S. Bailout Fund

This is the exact reason pay and bonus caps are a terrible idea. I realize American tax payers are pissed that bailed out banks used their money for employee compensation, but caps are not the way to go. It's not a fluke that BOA can't find a CEO. It's not a fluke that they're doing...

CAD banks still look strong - profit up, revenue up, provisions down - BMO

TD Bank: http://ca.news.finance.yahoo.com/s/03122009/2/biz-finance-time-items-bolster-td-bank-s-fourth-quarter.html Record year for earnings, higher revenue QOQ, decreasing loan loss provisions, smashing EPS estimates (albeit largely due to one time items). 3.6% dividend yield.

    Great Site

The worst is sites that have those annoying popup ads that appear when you scroll over certain words in the article with your mouse. Drives me nuts.

    inflation vs deflation

Not relevant IMO. Japan experiencing deflation and failed stimulus is nothing new.
