Who gives a fuck about what ratings agencies say. They are useless. They tell us exactly what we already know, usually after we already know it. I hope nobody here makes the mistake of relying on them for guidance. The mess of 2008 exposed them for what they are - useless.

How is this different from your opposite viewpoint? You are basically saying the same thing: "Of course it doesn't work. Evidence? Well, I believe it to be not true, so it musn't. You are wrong if you do not agree with me..."

I bought a particular stereo in 1999. Why did I buy this particular stereo? Because it was "Y2K compatible." This is the advertising the manufacturer used, and was very successful. Believe me...the Y2K scare was bullshit (with very few exceptions).

These problems are not due to the Fed...you need to start thinking bigger. There is more to the world than the USA. Most (if not all) countries have a central bank and they do not have the same problems as you are describing. Therefore, the concept of a central bank is not to blame.

Ah, I misunderstood your previous post. We're on the same page now. BOC will be able to hold off on raising rates until the Fed does unless inflation ramps up (caused partly due to the improved economic climate you mentioned). I just think that too big of a rate gap between Canada and US...

I don't think Canada will raise rates until the Fed does. The appreciation in the CAD would be too much of a shock for Canadian exporters IMO. Mid to late 2010 perhaps.
