Yes, maybe you are correct afterall. Thats is what I am also getting after doing search. Didn't get anything at nyse website yet though. If that is the case, then to make dvoluvold more useful, needs to be looked in the context of ES current vs ES close yday. Thanks Josh!

Thank you very much. Josh - I think your definition is wrong - I need to double check though - will go over this weekend and will let you know.

so dvoluvol was around 5/1, 7/1 the whole day - still we managed to come back so much from the lows. Ammo, can you please explain how it is possible for the index to go up so much with dvoluvol so much against it. Thanks

This doesn't make sense to me, eventually I might be correct but at the moment I will have to accept that I am wrong. Out at 1281.5.

O man, I laughed so hard and I am still laughing :) Thanks for the laugh on an especially tough day. My day in fx was a tough day today. I didn't lose much something like 60$, but I missed a huge move in my favor that would have netted me 1400$ +. I was short 100k Euro from 1.28 and...

You are long here? - Irrespective of what price action says or any setup says, I won't go long in the face of a game changing news like French downgrade. I would rather sit back and miss the long trade, in face of such news. Everything said and done, its interesting that S&P has managed...

I never expected market to come back all up...anyways short 1281. Downgrade of 1 country might not have much impact, but d/gs of least 2 countries (including France), then no way we are not going to 1265 or below Stop 1288, target open Edit: This trade is not a technical play for me...

Great discussion ralph and Martin! Keep it going - This is where ET shines at times. At times, you can get a threadbare discussion of an important issue with both sides putting forth good points. Another interesting point is the anonymity that internet offers - you can act as stupid as you...

Not as much milk from the cow.

Agreed - drawing a result from 4 period historical analysis is only for naive. Main aim for my writing was motivational - to give me urgency to work on better systems faster, and to make money and keep it in my account and grow it - fearing that vol might go away in 2 yrs :) Didn't know about...

out at 1290.25, would have liked to keep long till eod, but for 40 minutes stickiness in the 1289-1290.5 area points out that the upside followthrough is not that intense anymore. Maybe it will go up after i close, but i will rather close than take a chance

Not as much milk from the cow.

Crispy, Thanks a lot for the chart. It tells me that I have 1.5-2.5 years more when money can be made easily. Which means I need to graduate pretty quickly to big league managing a large account - for if I take 2-3 yrs to have a bigger account, chances are I will find making money in low vix...

I have seen this pattern repeat so many times now - initial 1-1.5 hr sell off, bottoming around 1030-11, and then gradual go up and close at highs in the last 2 months. Maybe I should count # of days in a year this pattern plays out in ES. Anyone else notice the great frequency of this pattern ?
