Moving to singapore or dubai for trading

This is useful information. Can you please shed more light on the advantages of settling in Monaco and what are the procedures. How much is the tax-rate? and how do you setup the business to get a visa? What kind of business it has to be? Can't you set up a trading firm business to get a visa...

Automated GBPUSD Long Term Strategy (Tradestation Performance Report)

I will post one of my system reports when I get some more time. For the time being, a quick point for you. Your DD is 15k on an open trade basis, so you will get a margin call and in this electronic world, broker would liquidate you immediately if you have < 15k in your account. On a closed...

Automated GBPUSD Long Term Strategy (Tradestation Performance Report)

Not sure what your motivation is for putting this system out there. Anyways I will write my opinion for your benefit and for benefit of others. It is a bad system. Might be tradeable in combination with other systems/markets (say you are trading 10+ systems/markets together, in that case you...

Prop Firms in NYC with salary, free training, and no programming experience necessary

Not to discourage you but 790 on GRE math is bad, everyone I know got 800. :) Above stat doesn't add anything relevant to discussion here. I am just trying to impress upon you its too competitive out there. GL

Sharpe Ratio - Monthly or Annual??

Ninja and tradestation have screwed up here. Sharpe ratios are always quoted in annualized terms. so 1.9 and 4.2 are what you quote - which are excellent numbers btw. Good luck.

I said I know such firms exist, I talked about pit trading days business models. I don't know names of such firms though :) A good trader needs to be fast in going from long to short and vice versa. I thought that is a good trait. :) Peace Edit: Anyways let me throw a name that I know...

Successful Trading and Compounding - On Steroids

There are a lot of things that human beings agree on in principle, but when it comes to execution, they screw up. They need to learn from their own experiences. Its fundamental human nature. Think about the behavior of a 3yr old kid. He is told not to touch the stove as it is hot, but you...

Successful Trading and Compounding - On Steroids

I wrote about this in one of my last posts in the previous journal. I haven't provided stats for my fx only performance on ET; it has been pretty solid. So, yes looking at fx only performance, I would fund the account as a third party objective observer. Without seeing FX only performance, I...

    Gifted trader: Andy Priston

yes yes yes you make sense. but please recognize that it is an entirely plausible scenario that young upcoming traders lose a lot of their bankroll before becoming consistent. Once they become consistent (or close to consistent), they need capital and they might have run out of it by now...

    Gifted trader: Andy Priston

To be honest, I don't know names of any firms that will do such a deal. However, I do see 100% economic justification to have such a business model for a firm- especially when traders are coming in with astonishing track records (let us say PF > 1.8 or Sharpe > 2 and 10 months positive out of...

    Gifted trader: Andy Priston

40 contracts are not on his 25k equity. In 'proper' futures prop model context, trader doesn't put up any capital. So 25k is irrelevant. All losses and profits are borne by the firm. Firms generally pay a salary (small) and a profit %age. Hope that is clear. This is the most striking...

    Gifted trader: Andy Priston

This logic is flawed. Consider a very modest scenario - someone spent 3 yrs becoming a consistent futures trader. Now his account is at USD 25k. He wants to trade 1 ES contract for every 10k in his account and with this leverage he will be able to return 100% return in a year. Assuming he is...

    Gifted trader: Andy Priston

I enjoyed this thread - informative. I have a question however. I know equity 'deposit' prop shops like Bright, Echo etc. are interested in commissions as they do get lower commissions than they pass on to their traders. So more churnout means more commissions for them. However, how does...

Successful Trading and Compounding - On Steroids

Finally, I haven't done any weekly posting for last 3 weeks. My account went below 2k and I can't trade anymore. I will come back to post again in this same journal once I have managed to build a bankroll (this time I will start with a minimum of 8k in my account). I am either going to take a...
