    I wouldn't put my money in for any specific time period. I'd start putting money in when the trend changes and keep adding if it continued. I'd start taking profit if the trend changed to a down trend. Throwing cash at it just in case is gambling.

    investment savings mutual fund. Currently pays over 3% Mostly Canadian TSE Stocks (home country bias) plus US stocks. Got burned a couple times when I tried it, so I don't bother. Just my own comfort level.
