Daily Gaps & Breakouts with Ken Calhoun

To the question of those high entry points, given the history of those two stocks running up then selling off, are you not putting yourself at risk of stopping out. The risk reward doesn't seem to be there.

Daily Gaps & Breakouts with Ken Calhoun

Let's move this discussion back where it belongs. So are you still holding TZA? I don't trade the premarket so I have no suggestions. Where was WATT trading premarket that would justify a 6.20 entry? Looking at the past few weeks this stock (WATT) has spiked up and then come back down...

Gotta ask. What is the significance of (Fainer) in the thread title? Thanks for taking the time to post real time.

Daily Gaps & Breakouts with Ken Calhoun

Can you comment on the order type. I've never used OTO, only bracket orders. If stock gaps past your stop order at the open does it fill? Is there a reason for the trailing stop to be an even dollar? The percentage loss you might have to take if you have similar dollar positions would vary...

    DOW futures down 300 again

How are you managing these as the market advances after the open? Are you trailing a stop, scaling out or holding?

    DOW futures down 300 again

The "Go bears!" sounds like cheerleading; perhaps a short skirt, some pompoms and a flash of cleavage will help. Please continue to post as you manage your positions to help us understand your strategy.

I Discovered the Reason I Lose Money Trading.

My suggestion is to pick one, either day trading or swing trading. Given what you revealed about your discipline to follow your plan you are likely to turn day trades into swing trades. If you don't follow your plan when day trading what makes you think you will follow it when swing trading...

    What is an "edge"?

The trading strategy is part of the plan, it is part of the action plan to achieve the goals set out in the plan.

    What is an "edge"?

I'd qualify that with more money than I could have made by investing in an index ETF.

    What is an "edge"?

I'm not sure. It depends on what your trading and why. I first developed a plan because I read that one of the reasons traders fail was lack of a written plan. How many times have you heard; "Plan your trade and trade your plan"? Google SMART plan. That is where I started. I then wrote what I...

The myth of letting your winners run

Those who sell early also state the myth "You can't go broke taking a profit" And then there are those who claim "You don't have a loss until you sell"

    Tradex Forex Journal

There is some kind of unwritten trading law, a subset of Murphy's, that says when you post live trades on an internet forum you will lose until you stop posting.

    What is an "edge"?

I understand. My edge is my trading plan and my ability to follow the plan. Both are integral in my success. Without a plan I wouldn't know what to do. Without the discipline to follow the plan, I wouldn't know if problems were caused by the plan or the trader.

    What is an "edge"?

I've heard somewhere that if you can't define your edge you don't have one. My system is a good definition if you can define the system.
