Beware of bitcoin and cryptos FUD's

Yesterday, we had several fuds: tether, double-spend, Yellen, plus the technicals on the charts with bitcoin going down hard. All the crypto haters here on ET were celebrating making posts and stuff, now bitcoin is back over $33.5K (from a low of $28.8 yesterday) and the haters unsurprisingly...

USDT Tether Being Investigated by New York Attorney General

Agree 100%, bitcoin/cryptos are decentralized and global, anyone who has an internet connection can participate. Below is a screenshot of AAVE, one of the biggest DeFi projects (deposit/lend). Anyone can deposit $50K worth of USDC and get that nice yield. It cannot meet the KYC/AML...

USDT Tether Being Investigated by New York Attorney General

I think we're having a misunderstanding which is why me and Here4money are saying it's good news and you think it's bad news. Before his departure, Mnuchin submitted a proposal for a Fincen rule that would require KYC/AML reporting on crypto transactions ($3K/$10K value) for exchanges...

USDT Tether Being Investigated by New York Attorney General

Yea, don't know if DeFi will eventually survive. It just means that the progress, development and adoption will move away from US and explicitly prevent Americans (US) from participating. If this particular fincen rule never gets passed, it is a huge win we can celebrate until the next...

USDT Tether Being Investigated by New York Attorney General

As someone hodling most of the crypto digital assets in local wallets, this is the best news I've seen in a very long time on cryptos, even better than all the news about Goldman Sachs, Blackrock, and Guggenheim getting into bitcoin The kyc on self-hosted wallets would have destroyed DeFi in...

USDT Tether Being Investigated by New York Attorney General

*** I'm not a financial advisor *** This Tether fud, plus Yellen fud are just a way for the big investors to buy your bitcoins for cheap. We (cryptos investors) survived a 3-year bear market and this is nothing, unless someone invested with leverage or with money they need in the short term...

The very long term prospects for bitcoin

I believe macro investors Raoul Pal and Dan Tapiero have alluded to this. I'll post the YouTube video if there's interest [edit: not on the effect of the increase in yield, I didn't know that as I don't understand the mechanics of bonds]

This is not good. Thanks for the heads up. Gotta do some reading... Btc was weaker than Eth last night so I had taken a position on Eth, but did not know about this news, so I did not reduce my btc hodlings. I'm not going to overreact, and all cryptos will get hit anyway with this kind of news....

A German programmer has 2 chances to guess his IronKey password or he’ll lose $280m in Bitcoin

California. It's possible as NY has stricter rules around cryptos from what I've read, i.e. Bitlicense

No worries. I don't see a limit on wires and I didn't see anything when I searched the faq, do you have a link on wire withdrawal limits? Update: actually, found the section on Coinbase, wire method is recommended for withdrawals higher than $25K

A German programmer has 2 chances to guess his IronKey password or he’ll lose $280m in Bitcoin

Thanks!!!!! Hey RedDuke, started my sell process today and also initiated the withdraw for the 1st batch. Email from Coinbase says 1-3 business days for withdrawal to hit the bank. I'm looking at the limits, there's no way to increase the ACH limits $25K/day, but this is sufficient for me. I...

Any way to reduce cost basis?

Ouch, definitely I'm not qualified. I'm in the process of selling bitcoins, started today, in fact, as yesterday was a US holiday., my cost basis is less than $150/btc so already talked to my tax accountant, purchased in 2013 For mined coins, I think they are treated like dividends or airdrops...

Any way to reduce cost basis?

Hold it for over a year, maybe your friend has already done this, that would lower the tax obligation. (I'm not a tax advisor so only an opinion, consult a tax professional would be best advice) When you say non-US wallet ,you probably mean non-US exchange, they should have the history of when...

People who don't believe in bitcoin and cryptos as digital assets, will not invest in this space (unless they change their minds in the future or bitcoin and cryptos fail completely and their skepticism is proven to be correct) and that is ok as there is incredible demand from others There's...
