    Shorts, Pay The Dividend

If you understand the process of shorting stocks then you understand that this is a natural consequence. Think about it...when you short a stock there are two people who own the stock. [1] The person who had the stock in their account and from whom you borrowed it to sell in the open...

    Larry Williams?

Whoa! Wait a minute!! Schwartz did NOT 'blow up' nor did he do bad when he ran other people's money. After a while he made a personal decision that the headache was simply not worth it. That is very different from Williams (who I'm told) blew up.

    Axis of Evil?

The 1979 Revolution happened about 22 years ago. That was when the extremist clergy came to power. At the beginning people welcomed them and thought that they would bring a certain morality to the corrupt regime of the Shah. But after a short time it became apparent to the people that these guys...

    Quadriga Hedge Fund

caveat emptor...as always. Having said that, I don't think it is fair to compare Quadriga to LTCM. These guys are a very small (relative) fund using VERY different investing tactics and to my knowledge are not using massive (60X) leverage. Still, the probability of a blow out is always there.

    Christian Right Wrong Again

Its a little known fact that since the mid 90's it has been legal for women to not wear a top in Canada. That right was won by a young woman who one summer day decided it was too hot and took off her top as she walked through her neighbourhood. She was arrested when someone called to complain...

It did break out but the volume is kinda suspect. I would be a bit reticent on Friday if it continues higher without heavy volume.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN%3D0029177766/u/102-6558270-4382542 ^^^ Fantastic book ...in which the author shows that dollar cost averaging (the pablum of investment advisors) is in direct contradiction with the EMH. Fascinating how these 'experts' can pimp this investing...

    RealMoney.com Open House

Well, if you want to fade Cramer he has been pounding the table on retail recently. Just yesterday, on Tweedle-Dee & Tweedle-Dum (aka Kudlow & Cramer) he was saying that he doesn't believe the well accepted idea that consumers are tapped out and will not push through a great Christmas season.

    Effect on Oil?

While everyone and their uncle is carefully watching the minutia of the Iraqi conflict (I mean the Iraqi parliament??! pu-lease!), there is another very real situation brewing in the Middle East that could affect the price of oil and therefore the stock market and the economy in general...

    Jim Roger's Article on Greenspan

Its called good PR. Greenspan has an uncanny ability to spin (or as he likes to call it Fed speak). But not to worry, before long everyone will realize that he was truly the worst central banker in history.
