    Can't sell my options

Completely correct, it just doesn't work if you don't have enough margin to buy the underlying.

Free Book For 2 Days: Failed Traders: The 20 Common Mistakes Committed By Over 1000 Losing Traders

"Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." There are a nearly infinite number of ways to be an unsuccessful trader. Quick maths brushup, ∞-20 still equals ∞. It's a logical fallacy to assume that eliminating mistakes will lead to success. It's a necessary...

Experienced option traders, did you run into situation not being able to sell your options?

This whole thread was about an ITM option. You will be able to sell an ITM option for slightly less than intrinsic, no matter what. OTM options have no intrinsic value by definition and a far OTM option may very well be worthless.

Anonymous Billionaire - is he trading Brazil stocks or call options?

My memory of at least Gencko was that you didn't get stock in the new company, you got warrants which gave you the option to buy stock on the reorganized company, is that correct? That's not uncommon with bankruptcy, they're essentially raising money from existing shareholders by offering them...

Anonymous Billionaire - is he trading Brazil stocks or call options?

They haven't kept their existing shareholders at all. As you indicated, the debt holders become the equity holders when a company goes through bankruptcy, pretty much that is the definition of bankruptcy. The existing shareholders take a 100% haircut. It's possible to invest in bankrupt...

'Biggest Ad Fraud Ever': Hackers Make $5M A Day

A profound statement for sure, so profound I haven't the first clue what you were attempting to convey.

If both options expire in the money

My experience with IB was the same, they always net you to a zero position.

    Can't sell my options

Put in an offer enough below intrinsic to cover commissions and someone will hit it. If not post the option here and I'll hit it.

Experienced option traders, did you run into situation not being able to sell your options?

You're either missing the point or being obtuse, either way there's no point in carrying on the conversation further. For the OP, just know that you'll always be able to sell any option that's ITM for a couple ticks off intrinsic if you post an offer, even if there is no bid posted.

Experienced option traders, did you run into situation not being able to sell your options?

Thank you for the obvious statement that there is a buyer for every seller, brilliant! If there is no bid it means no one has placed a bid. It does not mean no one is willing to buy, which you are saying. If I place an offer, then it's instantly visible to any and all potential buyers. It's very...

Experienced option traders, did you run into situation not being able to sell your options?

That's actually not true, as someone pointed out already in this thread. I've often posted a sell limit order when there is no bid and had it filled, generally a minimum tick or two off intrinsic value. That's free money, there is always someone waiting to pick it off even if they don't go to...

How much would you pay MAX on a monthly basis for an innovative profitable indicator?

    1. Do a screen for the actively managed (i.e. trades money under some indicators) mutual fund that provided the highest return over the last year, 5 years, decade.... 2. Buy the mutual fund 3. Pay any load and annual expense ratio. That's the max you pay for a successful profitable indicator...

Anonymous Billionaire - is he trading Brazil stocks or call options?

Since bankruptcy eliminates the ownership of common shareholders that story is highly unlikely to be true. Sometimes they throw common shareholders a bone with an option to buy stock in the new company, but that's a second investment. Even then its pretty implausible that even that was the case...

    WTS not paying

As I said earlier in the thread, you can get from pretty much anywhere in the world to Canada for less than $1,000. If you show up there it sounds like they're going to pay you, so if you're down more than $1,000 why not take a few days to fly on over and have a little chat with them?

'Biggest Ad Fraud Ever': Hackers Make $5M A Day

Not sure what average IQ by nationality has to do with my post. That line of "logic" opens up a whole boatload of additional issues about what exactly IQ tests show and the correlation between IQ and achievement, the relevance of an average over a nation of several hundred million people when...

'Biggest Ad Fraud Ever': Hackers Make $5M A Day

We don't need any time to tell you have no idea what you're talking about and seem to be a bit match challenged as well. Again, what is your coding experience? Your experience working in software development on secure systems?

Insufficient margin to exercise ITM options - what happens?

If you search the threads here you'll find enough reports of IB actually auto-liquidating options positions the day of expiration that you can be fairly certain it's what they do in practice. I've certainly fallen victim to this myself, in my case the day before expiration, so there's one data...

Insufficient margin to exercise ITM options - what happens?

You're actually very lucky they didn't autoliquidate your options, that is their published and usually followed tactic in that situation and they can do so even the day before expiration if they think you'll be ITM on expiration. IB doesn't do margin calls, they do auto liquidations, with market...

    EF Hutton Returns

Nobody missed the several hundred dollar commissions though. You had to be pretty significantly right just to break even and there was really no such thing as retail trading as we know it.

'Biggest Ad Fraud Ever': Hackers Make $5M A Day

You asserted that security on ad networks = security on nuclear arsenals, that's an absurd statement on a number of levels. I'm guessing you've never coded anything for a secure site, let alone gone through the standards required to code something on the classified side of the military networks...
