Any experience hiring a programmer? Where should I look?

You actually did what I was advocating. You had multiple modules, you paid for each when it was done, so the programmer knew you were honest didn't have to do all the work up front at risk, and you knew, after the first module, that he/she did quality work. Essentially a milestone system. Not...

Any experience hiring a programmer? Where should I look?

They do. It might be impractical if you just want a piece of source code that can't be demonstrated when compiled, but even then you can do a milestone payment system. Probably more to the story than was posted.

Any experience hiring a programmer? Where should I look?

If you would be willing to share the Upwork names of the programmers you used it would be super helpful for them and this community. The problem with Upwork is the huge variability in what you get. Rewarding good work with recommendations helps the whole ecosystem.

    IB auto-liquidation

I'll be curious to see if this behavior changes once Timber Hill is shut down and IBs algorithms have time to go through a couple iterations.

Any experience hiring a programmer? Where should I look?

Chances are you'll get the same crap you're experiencing with upwork. My strategy when I used them was to hire 3 people to independently do the same job. I'd keep the best product and just throw the other 2 away. It's cheap enough you can generally afford to do this, and increases the chance...

Salmon: Wild Caught vs. Farm Raised. Which is best?

So Keta is a made-up name for what has for years been called Dog Salmon, a name it got because it's indeed primarily been used for hundreds of years up north as dog food. It's about as edible as any other dog food, really a disgrace that they try to sell it as "salmon" for human consumption.

To some, Theranos lawsuit shows scary side of buying stock in private companies

I'd actually say VCs value a team, investors value a company. That's why they fall for the social proof of other investors who do seed and A rounds. It works most of the time, Elizabeth Holmes just managed to fool them all.

    SPX options

Unless you need to fill market orders that's really an illusion. In my experience SPX options fill a nickle off the mid every time unless there's a non-market maker order in there obscuring the real mid. Those are pretty easy to spot because they don't move or get bigger/smaller while the actual...

Salmon: Wild Caught vs. Farm Raised. Which is best?

I haven't researched enough to make an opinion on radiation. I can tell you that Pink salmon spend only 2 years at sea while Kings can spend up to 8. Since all fish are bio accumulators, you'd obviously be better off going with the Pinks since by this time there aren't any alive now who were...

Salmon: Wild Caught vs. Farm Raised. Which is best?

Well again, any article that generically refers to "salmon" isn't making an apples to apples comparison given the 4 wildly different special of wild salmon and an entirely different species that makes up farmed salmon. This article is pretty pointless when it doesn't name which species of wild...

Salmon: Wild Caught vs. Farm Raised. Which is best?

As a bit of a salmon snob who used to eat quite a bit that I knew was fresh because I'd just caught it.... First it's important to understand that there are a number of different species of salmon that are all radically different from one another. A fillet of Atlantic Salmon contains 27g of fat...

Getting dividend yields for all NYSE stocks

For the S&P500 (or anything else with traded futures) you can get the implied dividend of the basket by backing out interest rates from the discount or premium of the future to spot.

    Iron ore futures

I'm guessing there is really no trading on these in the traditional sense where two anonymous parties meet on the exchange to transact, it's probably more brokered prearranged OTC style that just trades in CME for the standard contract and clearing. I know a lot of the less traded commodities...
