Oh sorry, this thread crossed in my head with another one where guy is sending large orders to IB.
Buy in any case, this appears to be a very thin stock, 500 shares market order can sweep several levels of the book causing the halt. For details, would need to go to Time and Sales.
Don't send...
You may not send market order when the stock is in a halt. So you must have sent it before the stock halted. Hence, I'm assuming your large order either was front run or spooked the market and itself caused the halt.
There's a matching period during the halt, just like at the open, I believe. So your order would not move anything but would be opportunity for someone willing to take other side.
Isn't there some algo you can use where IB breaks up your order and is very configurable. I don't think it's in your interest sending large orders anyway.
Did they suggest any workaround other than breaking the order yourself?
Don't know but my guess is no. You are US citizen so will need to be registered. I don't think compliance with allow you to trade separate accounts as there's possibility of manipulation. Nice problem to have though :)

There is nothing wrong with giving up on something that doesn't work, or works but not very efficient. Sometimes, time and effort invested is just not worth carrying on. I would really appreciate if @Sweet Bobby would share as to why.
You are guaranteed to be much slower than exchange itself. You may end up crossing the spread unintentionally. But if you are trying to accomplish some other logic, then it's a different question.
Why? If one is a profitable day trader, why can't it translate into being profitatable intra-day options trading? Not arguing, just trying to understand.
Help me get my head around this please. Why would the strategies not be worth trading in isolation?
Does it mean that they have low win ratio but very high avg win/ avg loss ratio? Kind of like trend following strategies - they chop you up but once you catch one ... In this case, I...
