Anyone experienced what I am experiencing ?

You had $400K. You spent 8 years working on a trading system. From your tale of woe, it seems you weren't earning any money during the research & development phase, so why live such an expensive lifestyle ($50K/year)? I realize the answer to this question is meaningless, but your story...

Al Brooks ideas - Possible to code?

ES is a classically technical instrument. You can count on "textbook" technical analysis of price action to trade it. With regard to CL, I'd like to be able to say to you "Come on in, the water's warm", but the truth is, it's different from anything else I've ever traded (stocks, ETFs, stock...

Al Brooks ideas - Possible to code?

Ahhh, now there are two delusional people who believe it's possible to earn a decent living trading a single lot of oil :p :p

Al Brooks ideas - Possible to code?

I'll be guilty here of commenting on a book that I only read a small part of: I believe Mark Fischer's book provides specific rules for a specific trading strategy. Al Brooks' book(s) provide an advanced level course in price action mainly as applied to short term intraday trading. A...

Is there someone who can explain Al Brook's H1 and H2 for me

Fantastic, you've taken that first step on the path to consistent profitability. The fact that you got a lot out of the price action thread indicates the odds of success have moved significantly in your favor. Don't read thru all those posts. You know how to get in touch with me.

    Newbie seeking advice

Bob Volman's Forex Price Action Scalping Read this to understand some basic (and codable) price action trading concepts. Don't worry about the "Forex" part of it or the "scalping" part of it. The book is a true gem.

Questions How to Get Started Trading with Probabilities

I trade futures, so I can test setups through a longer session than the normal US stock trading session of 6 1/2 hours. The start of the European session provides enough price movement to test tactics during that time as well. Keep in mind I'm a scalper, I rarely hold through retraces, so the...

Al Brooks ideas - Possible to code?

Hi Wulf! Your comments above nail the Brooks approach. "Bar by bar" doesn't mean that every bar signals a potential trade, nor does it mean every bar has importance to the price action tactics you choose to incorporate into your plan. It's the concepts that matter. For example...

Is there someone who can explain Al Brook's H1 and H2 for me

Shots, these are very basic concepts, but well worth investigating in depth and at length on whatever instrument(s) you want to trade.

Al Brooks ideas - Possible to code?

Just curious, what do you mean by a "bar by bar method"? I've rigorously tested (by hand) a few ideas I got from Brooks' book, and have incorporated these ideas into my trading plan. My methods of trading these ideas is, for the most part, somewhat different from Brooks', but the core...

Anybody on the Zone diet, and taking huge doses of fish oil?

I wouldn't change a thing, then. The diet I advocate recommends legumes, sweet potatoes, potatoes, squash, corn, rice and other whole grains (if you're not gluten intolerant) as the core the day's calories. If you feel hungry all the time, then you need more of these items. Fruits are fine...

    Market charlatans

I looked briefly at some of it and it looks solid as rock to me. 90% of people will lose money with excellent strategies, so I wouldn't use "student" results as a guide to whether a trading strategy is profitable or not.

So, what does a good trader make per month?

IMHO, a good trader should make at least 80% of what his/her business plan projects s/he should make per month.

Anybody on the Zone diet, and taking huge doses of fish oil?

If you were hungry all the time, you were definitely not on the diet I advocate, which is an "eat as much as you want all day long and do not count calories" diet. No sugars, processed foods or vegetable oils...Works for me! :)

Questions How to Get Started Trading with Probabilities

If I notice a pattern that seems to repeat, first I eyeball it to get an idea for favorable and adverse price excursions. During this phase I also look at the bigger picture to see if there are any immediate filters that might be useful. Based on the "eyeball" phase results, I develop a few...

Anybody on the Zone diet, and taking huge doses of fish oil?

During my nutrition certification studies, the mass of evidence presented indicated the whole foods plant-based diet to be the most effective at reversing insulin resistance. Again, although a WFPB is a vegan diet, a vegan diet isn't necessarily a WFPB diet. Insulin resistance is caused by...

Anybody on the Zone diet, and taking huge doses of fish oil?

Plant-based diets provide very high quality nutrients. B12 can be got from many fortified sources or a supplement. Meat is not necessarily the best source of iron. Meat contains heme iron, the absorption of which the body doesn't regulate. So its possible to get more iron than is needed and...
