    CL Redux

When you posted this price had spent almost 4 hours of the 5.5 hour pit session above a 20EMA on the 5-min (most common day trading) chart, 4 hours above the 60-min 20EMA, and a 4th day in a row above the daily 20EMA. This indicates a long day in every short term trading time frame. I'm...

CL Inventory strategies: 1) Bearish report = test of highs Bullish report = test of lows 2) Whatever price does within the 30 mins of the report will totally retrace at some point in the day These strategies are based on careful scientifically valid "it seems to do that a lot"...

    Surf's Special Situation Journal

Yeah, I also was accused of being one of those snake oil selling cowards, being a shill for [enter name of author/vendor here], and obviously hiding something behind my "carefully crafted online persona as an expert BSD trader" (Surf's words), because if my TA-based trading was so great, why...

That's one helluva F U pattern on the hourly chart :D Of course, could just be a very wide range. :p

    The loneliness of success

I don't think anything I do is secretive, it's pure price action concepts available from Brooks, Volman, Suri, Anek, several current ET posters, and probably hundreds of others. I ignored everything successful traders told me, screwed up again, started reading some Brooks, got some ideas...

    The loneliness of success

The original core plan was automated. What I do now has grown significantly out of that core plan, and is not automated. Day trading is the most difficult trading to master, IMHO, so I wouldn't say the trading itself is enticing, but the opportunity for significant returns if a profitable...

    The loneliness of success

I had my core strategy coded back in 2010 and it was consistently profitable. Watching it turn profits without hesitating or second guessing the signals was, in fact, the thing that convinced me to become more aggressive with my trading, to stop trying to cherry pick and to just trade the damn...

If you need things to be exact, then profitable trading will painful at best, and may well be impossible for you.

    The loneliness of success

I'm not going to do anyone's work for them, but I'll share some of my definitions pertaining to oil futures on a 5-min charting time frame during pit hours: Wide range bar (WRB): price bar whose high/low range is equal to or greater than .20 Breaks out with conviction: price breaks out of...

    The loneliness of success

This sounds like a fear of uncertainty in general with regard to the market. The only certainty in trading is that defined setup/context patterns will be similar ("look like") to each other and that "close" is as good as it gets in a fluid and dynamic environment where anything can happen...

    Market charlatans

If break even trades are not counted as losers when calculating the win rate, this is not out of line for an experienced intraday scalper.

    Surf's Special Situation Journal

Price action concepts make timing pretty easy if you have excellent concentration and focus, keep your S/R levels in view, and know where the nervous scalpers have their stops. I was more interested in the leverage and risk of a small account doing that. Sounds like Surf's kind of guy :D

What's he trading that can leverage a $30K or so account into a 5-figure day without serious risk in the case of a black swan event or platform/hardware failure? I want some of what he's trading :p

Al Brooks ideas - Possible to code?

Ha! I speak from YOU! You taught me about ES, I still have your hand-annotated black and white plain bar charts sitting here!

Is there someone who can explain Al Brook's H1 and H2 for me

Right, Brooks offers a course in price action, with all sorts of information. I spent at least half an hour on every 2-3 pages, but I was clueless when I started reading his book. When I read it much later after having developed my own trading plan based on some of his, and some of other...
