How many of you promised to stop trading and get a real job in 2009?

Trading is the most real job I've ever had. The only thing I've ever risen to is a challenge and I've found trading to be more challenging than having cancer.

    Pictures of your trading stations

You know my opinion - 2x2 cube, you can see everything at once. Win, your desk is scarily neat, sign of a very sick mind. (Don't forget to finish the job on FFIV for me Monday :D)

    A bull in HOTT

Hugh, I am a member of that 9% :p (Although I may play this one to the long side as well on the next dip, because it moves big for a low-priced stock.) If you are still holding your position, consider taking profits on half the position the next time it moves up, and hold the other half with...

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

+ $550 Shorted AMGN @ 59.45 when it pulled back from the opening high. Covered @ 59.15 for a $150 gain assuming it would stage a freshly shortable bounce near the LOD (59.06). Never assume anything, just trail a stop, damn thing tanked non-stop to just below 58.00. Someone kick me. APOL...

    Trader P/L 2009

+$550 I could support 2 traders full time with the profits I leave behind. (Hermit, I need to work on my exits, too. Nice trading, you're on a roll now )

    fade or follow new highs/lows?

I've had much success fading highs and lows of the day. Fading an actual HOD (top/bottom) picking is a lower probability trade, but fading a double top/double bottom, or lower high, higher low is high reward. The benefit of either trade is you have nice tight stops laid out for you above or...

    Possible Shorts

In 2007 DRYS went from 17 to 130 in 8 months. In 2008, from 116 to 3 in 6 months. Day trader's dream, swing trader's dream, investor's nightmare. (Got some in the IRAs @ 3.48, loose stop :p)

    A bull in HOTT

Hugh, it's buy the rumor, sell the news. Everyone expected HOTT to post strong sales and guidance for the quarter and it was likely priced in. The next quarter is always a major losing quarter for them, so profit-taking off highs may continue.

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

+ $152 Shorted FFIV @ 23.43 on its way down from yesterday’s high of 23.76. Trailed a stop and was hit @ 23.30 on the pivot for a $67 gain. Shorted again @ 23.25 with an initial cover target of 23.15 and a plan to hold and add to the position if it rallied and tested the HOD. The stock...

Curious as to why everyone picks on stock_trad3r, I looked up his first post and it was a spot on call on GOOG. I therefore came to the conclusion that the ET community has destroyed him over the years. stock, you got my vote! GOOG to 700!

    MACD/Trendline Swing Trader

Rashid, you are in the money, they just warned on soft sales and tanked to 100 in after hours. On a volatile high priced stock like ISRG, how many shares do you generally put on for a swing trade?

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

+ $638 Ready to take advantage of morning volatility on my TIF short and, whoa, on market open my TIF chart shows nothing, the level II is not printing and the bid/ask is wide and changing all over the place, so I figure no one’s biting. My watch list shows the last trade locked at...

    Cheap stocks

Cheap stocks can become expensive stocks. AAPL went from $7 to $200 in 5 years. POT went from $10 to $240 in 5 years. CELG went from $3 to $75 in 5 years. DRYS went from $9 to $128 in less than a year and a half (and just went from $3 to $15 in less than two months). Sure beats 4% a year.
