jr, when buying options on earnings, you should be prepared to lose 80-100% of your investment; however if loss of your total investment does not risk more than an acceptable % of your trading account, that is acceptable risk management, IMHO.

This is a very strong strategy that I use as well. I will get to know a stock's major and minor support and resistance levels, how it behaves, earnings date (and ex-dividend date, if applicable), analyst upgrades/downgrades and other news. Then when the stock approaches support/resistance areas...

Win, LOL! I paper trade by choosing an entry price as it flies by on the screen and then selecting what would be my stop and profit target and I write down the result whichever gets hit first. I don't have a simulated account, so my paper trades have no slippage and no commissions!
