What are the questions you ask yourself in order to eliminate false positives?

When I saw this thread, I already had a good idea who posted it. My first reaction is to ask myself, "What would Ed say about this(Ed Seykota)." I think it would be something along the lines of investigating feelings of being unsure. It seems to be a common theme running through your threads...

I'm still too slow to react when a market isn't acting right. I could see below 1.17 the lack of momentum in the euro after the initial push, just didn't want to believe it.

Flat. That was sort of disappointing. Full moon reversal?

Still long usdjpy. Was waiting for a retrace to get into Euro, never really got one. Frustrating but I'm still up at this point, which is the name of the game.

Added more USD Jpy in the 70s. Long, long , long. If and when it breaks it could really move. It's been a wide consolidation.

Just wondering if everything is going to churn like this till Friday NFP. Thinking to take profits wherever I can get them and do something else.

So much for Nzd being weaker. Just bought back Nzd, shorted Aussie at .7836.

I'm a technical trader, but I don't want to trade against the fundamentals either. The stock market is a better example, where right in the middle of a bull market you'll have all kinds of voices saying the market is due to correct, is going to correct, Armageddon is coming, whatever.

Usually I try to not pay to take the fundamentals too seriously. But here you have a historic event. I keep thinking it's got to move the markets more than just a little. In the meantime I'll try to stick to what I'm good at. Which is fear and greed.

Or should I say, the anticipation of "taper" has been dollar bearish, until recently.

When the Fed in the spring announced the "taper", the dollar has been selling off, especially against the Euro. The move accelerated at that point. So on the face of it, taper is dollar bearish. Again, am I missing something?

Thank you Martin. I was walking around with a fallacy in my head and didn't know it. And trading at the same time!

Flat. I don't like this market either way. I'll let it decide which way it wants to go.

I don't get it. Isn't it one and the same? Ohh. . .they aren't printing money?
