buy limit sitting at 28.50 for last few minutes ... I must be close to the front of the queue by now

Sounds reasonable, though if you look at a trendline on the intraday connecting the last two swing highs (damn I hate trend lines), a retest of that would put it around 26. But I don't usually pay attention to that stuff very much. Also 25.50 is really the lower boundary for significant volume...

If 23 holds does that mean I get to be a guru??!!? You know, those people who are full of shit but once in a while make a good call? :D Was looking to buy 23.50 after 23 held but no retrace to speak of... :-/

Well there goes that theory, at least timing-wise... may still be bullish but not like I expected.

double bottomed at the IB low, gotta go with bullish now.. should have gone just now if it was going to go down. Lots of market buying. Being absorbed yes, but bears had enough chances, not sure they will get another here.

out BE took a break from computer and came back just as it was bottoming, and should have taken it off when I saw volume. Oh well, worth a try.

What I meant is that your stop, to survive in this case, would need to be higher than 50 -- you would have needed to risk MORE than 16 points in all likelihood, to stay in. You look in hindsight and see that you only needed to risk 16, but what if it had gone to 1260 last night, or 1270...

Shocked that 29.50 was bought and has any significance. Indecision for me at the moment.

good point re: RTH. I did expect a stop run but not a 12 point one I must admit. :)

Still valid even after it went 12 points above that last night?

Shorting 34 and enduring a 16 point drawdown with probably lots more actual risk attached, and holding for a target of 8 points IS a loser, even if you win the trade. Winning these types of trades is called being lucky. Be thankful you only lost 5 points with such a bad entry. Either way, you...

Yeah definitely, hope it works for you. Regarding SPX vs. ES volume, it's only a minor interesting note that they can be different. I don't place a lot of emphasis on it. My point was simply that you would expect volume to be low this week. So just like large volume at the open and close has...

By the way seouljah, given the fact that it could not even get below 34.75 in 7+ hours since the open of the session would not give me lots of confidence in a short. How about those people who shorted near the end of the day--don't you think they might have their stops run first before a move...

No "problem" with your plan, sounds reasonable if you are going to short, but I would consider a different look at the volume. S&P cash traded highest volume in December today, except for last Friday's opex high-as-expected volume, and this is 3 trading days before the holiday. So, I would...
