When to throw in the towel as a trader?

There is a perfect storm going right now of computer power, internet, trading knowledge, economic expansion, etc. Anybody that quits is nuts. Quitting for awhile to get your ducks in a row might help but to quit with finality..... makes no sense.

daily % gain, rollcall and method

I think it is doable. Obviously you are not after the 14000%, just after the money at the end of every day. What are you going to do with all the extra $ if I might ask?

    Great scam.

    C. Thomas McMillen is the kind of guy that Venture Capital is hunting for. Also PhD's with good ideas like Google. I don't think that just any body can raise money like that. Maybe the smart guys are sidestepping the VC's who always get the upper hand at some point and kick the founders out of...

1 brokerage for the whole order

I did a little trail and error along those lines. I dropped all the issues under 20 cents as well but it was because of problems with Tradestation EZLanguage math and the way prices were reported or something, can't recall exactly. life goes on. This whole trading business is trail and error...

    Yuk, another newb question re:ts2000i/data

Nothing in trading is a nobrainer, believe me.

    Backtesting Sufficiency

That is exactly what I am doing. It is not because of any particular belief about the math of the situation, it is just the only way I can do it, seems good so far. I literally do load up 1000 issues but I only test over 1 year's data. I want to be able to relate to the condition the overall...

    Charting Options

Maybe most options traders are not using tech analysis and there is room for improvement? People said that was the case with commodities back in the 70's-80's. I think the best commodity traders today even probably are watching the actual industries that use the commodities rather than T/A but...

    Yuk, another newb question re:ts2000i/data

It does make some sense. You can collect your own history in the Global Server. I never tried it, but it probably is a good way to go depending on what you are doing. You get 40 symbols and more if you trade a lot. Max

Unbalanced runs of win / loses for high profitable and risky system

I'm thinking that if you look at the statistics regarding systems and the statistics and Kelly Math regarding the use of large amounts of margin that what you are describing is what most traders are doing.

Let us review a winning strategy!!!

This idea will not help me. I have a strategy that breaks even every year but the opportunity costs are where the losses really come in. If I reverse it, nothing will be better.

Let us review a winning strategy!!!

Is it losing or loosing? It distresses me that I have seen this word, a fine english word with some real history behind it, misspelled. I give up, no more PM's to the misspellers. I just cannot change the world.

    Interesting "caribbean pirates"

I am from the Kondratieff school of economics. You look back 46 to 54 years, or something like that and that period will predict the current one. I did that during the 80's and 90's and had a variable rate mortgage, much to the distress of all the worriers that I ever discussed it with. I made...

    Interesting "caribbean pirates"

I never saw the notion expressed better. I recall Howard Ruff and the Ruff Times, his publicaton, and a book he wrote way back in the 70's. I knew a guy in the 90's that was of the same mindset, he was somehow so sure that western civilizaton was going to collapse before Y2k even that he starved...

Automated trading system outcomes and real trading results

Sounds like a good plan. You could scale up the account as you gain confidence in both the trading system and the execution system. Actually if they are both working well the account should scale itself up.
