    Blame student loans on.....

Blame the government too. They basically told the banks, "you don't have to have any skin in the game and you can lend any amount to anyone who applies for a loan". "Conditions" like that are often abused.

New Dell rig with Xeon or i7?

Correction... I didn't uninstall "many" times, only a few when troubleshooting. To say many times sounds like I might have been having ongoing problems needing uninstall/reinstall of the driver. Such is not the case. My 295s ran mostly trouble free (as do my 310s and P620s.)

New Dell rig with Xeon or i7?

Yes, many times. Had them in all of my machines at one time until I upgraded to NVS 310 and P620. Recalling from memory (too lazy to look it up :))... I upgraded my video cards because the VRAM in the 295 is only 256MB. UHD monitors require more. The NVS 310 is available in 512MB and 1GB...

Scatty's KISS View Of The Market, 11/27

IMV, not "major bull leg", but more like "final blow off top". Could be congested, could be "roman candle"... or anything between.

Scatty's KISS View Of The Market, 11/27

I'm not going into detail about the Elliot Wave Count, but if you understand Elliot, perhaps this may be of value. 1. (4)... the Sept low... Is generally agreed upon as correct read 2. (5)? MAY be the entire "5th Wave Up" from the Covid Low.. and MAY be the final top. 3. (5)? MAY be "W1 of...

New Dell rig with Xeon or i7?

The advantage to running a quad port card is that all of the VRAM is available for the display. When you run 2x dual cards, the memory usage is unequally configured between the cards and restricts part of the VRAM's allocation. That may or may not have an operational impact.

New Dell rig with Xeon or i7?

FWIW... I've run 2 video cards mostly over the years. Even ran 4 cards way back before there was much in the way of dual/quad cards. Never had any kind of issue.

With Low Vaccination Rates, Africa's COVID Deaths Remain Far Below Europe & US

Authored by Ryan McMaken via The Mises Institute, ...Since the very beginning of the covid panic, the narrative has been this: implement severe lockdowns or your population will experience a bloodbath. Morgues will be overwhelmed, the death total toll will be astounding. On the other hand, we...

How much Slippage to Use when Back testing and Optimizing

I remember years back when an ETer queried, "How can I buy at the bid and sell the ask"? If I could do that my system would be "killer-profitable". We all chortled. :)

How much Slippage to Use when Back testing and Optimizing

If your fills and slippage make a significant difference to your results, you're "fishin' in a dry hole".

When the "spam hits the fan", where do you want your money?

I say... Long Cash Long, short duration government securities Short the market (or long ETFs which play the short side) Long $USD Some combo of all that will likely save your ass! I dunno about crypto... we'll just have to see. :)

Austria Freak Out: Lockdown EVERYTHING! Meanwhile 'Unvaccinated' Africa Still Not Impacted

Just a day after announcing that the unvaccinated would lose all basic human rights, the Austrian government took it a stage further and ruled that the entire country would lose its basic human rights. Back to a nationwide lockdown to control a covid outbreak that was not controlled last time...

    Fidelity Health Savings Account

Thanks for bringing me up to date. The HSA apparently began in 2004... which was after I'd discontinued my FXA. The HSA is better. :)

    Fidelity Health Savings Account

From the last I used one of these... what you apparently have in mind won't work for you. The problem is (1) the money must be withheld by employer*, (2) it's limited to something like $2500/year maximum, and (3) what you don't spend in the plan year is lost. IOW.. if you put $2500 into the...

I'm going to mostly cash in Long-Term portfolio

Not necessarily. If that were the case, one should invest 100% in the hedge vehicle. Hedging is to "offset losses" somewhere else... not necessarily 100%. Besides, a cash hedge is more of a temporary position.
