How much part does a GPU Play in Chart ?

That's basically exactly what they were designed for. NVS dual-port cards are excellent for trading environment.

Need advice on buying a Workstation

Here's what I'd recommend you get rather than spending $5,000 on a new one.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/265352048950 $679 including 2-year warranty. Add $700-ish for 3 video cards and you're in it for $1400. Forget NVME for now... you can always add it later.

Need advice on buying a Workstation

Working with tics is a challenge. I tried it once years ago. It was too manic and had my CPU humping 100% and the cooling fans on high all the time. Have you tried 10 second charts? I don't know if NVME will help retrieve your data faster. It would if the data were all in one big file, but...

Need More Info on Dell 5820

That needs to be questioned. The specs on the i-x CPUs say they support only 4 monitors. I've seen other times when Dell's has been sloppy/wrong with description info. Then again, with DP you can Daisy Chain* monitors... I guess the CPU sees all in that chain as only one monitor?? However...

When it gets to 3.77, you might want to buy some. :D

Well, the 3660 isn't going to work for you, so you might as well let the notion go. Perhaps you care too much about the hardware when you should be primarily concerned about the job you want it to do. The jump in prices should be an indication to "not buy right now".... prices will come down...

So.... for someone who wants most of the qualities of a workstation and can live with the limitations of "4 monitors, <48 PCIE lanes, 64GB of RAM", one could buy one with a Core iX CPU and save a few $$.)

Whoa, Buckeroo! I just had a thought that will probably save your bacon. You'll want to check the specs of your proposed CPU. The main reason gamer/consumer rigs come with only 1, x16 slot is because their CPUs support a max of 4-monitors. You want to run 12 monitors... you've got no choice...

Need More Info on Dell 5820

Jumpin' through too many hoops.... You could look for PCIE x4-to-x16 adapter. However, when using adapters you often sacrifice resolution. You'd want to get some info on whatever you find or just learn about it when you try to apply. (Also the case would have to be wide enough to accommodate.)

Those 2 data sheets are interesting.... number of PCIE lanes, memory slots, monitors supported and other. The Core i9 is very much a "gamer" CPU.... different from workstation.

3rd graphics card will run on x4 slot. You're being told that your NVME has to run on an x16 slot with 8 lanes? That seems unusual. Should run on x16 wired as 4 lanes. Another choice is to run the NVME from one of the SATA rack mounts. There's an adapter for that. Hint... if NVME option...

    Dumb Questions From a Noob

They are more different than their names sound. RS, "Relative Strength"... is the measure of one issue vs. another. Example... if the Nas goes up 3% while the SP goes up 2%, the Nas has shown greater "relative strength" vs the SP. RSI, "Relative Strength Index"... is a technical tool that...

Are we headed for 2008 level volatility?

Maybe/probably.... once the majority of players recognize and accept that it's a bear market. (So far they act with disbelief, though annoyed a bit.)
