    Fade the MA crosses

"MA crosses" mostly work for trades that work out to be "big moves". Otherwise, they are "always late" and often a trap. Proceed accordingly. IOW... if one trades "MA crosses", though "some" work out as hoped... one is betting on "big move this time/right now". Odds against. As far as MA's...

Should you or should you not chase?

    1. Chasing is important... that's what you do with "congestion breakouts". 2. If chasing, you want to be "early". 3. "Chasing late" is more hazardous. 4. When chasing, you're giving the "benefit of the doubt to directional psycho"... that the move in your play will continue long enough for...

Inexperienced router consumer in the market for a new home router, suggestions?

If you have Comcast in your area, you might give them a look. They advertise "highest internet speeds" (??) Up to 6Gbs, I think. Mine is 800Mbs (wired).... wifi up to 600Mbs in my environment. YMMV. They provide a "gateway"... modem/router combo.

    CPU selection...(help)

You don't have the free choice of parts. The mobo dictates. That is, it will not run "just any CPU you want", but will have specs as to which models it will run. Also the max model of RAM and RAM speed will be determined by the mobo. Personally, I like workstations... for lots of reasons...

    CPU selection...(help)

Upgrading your CPU likely won't improve trading performance in a way you'll notice. Your present CPU has a Passmark score of ~9000 My old workstation Passmark is ~7000 The machine I'm using at this moment, ~3000 (Sierra runs fine) Generally the CPU isn't used much in trading... it's mostly...

    CPU selection...(help)

If you're thinking of upgrading your present machine, you'll need to check your owner's manual. The mobo will likely accommodate only certain "CPU Series(s)", so you'll have to choose from among those.

Calling all the Elitetraders! USIC 2023 Opens Next Week!

I recommend you enter anyway. It could/will give you a good picture (audited) of your consistency and discipline. If you do well, enter again next year. You might surprise yourself. ("Audited results" can be a very big thing. And getting them any other way is MUCH more costly.)

Calling all the Elitetraders! USIC 2023 Opens Next Week!

I entered with the hope of gaining some cred to raise money for my mutual fund timing service. It took 3 years of audited, published results before people finally said, "all right we believe you know what you're doing". There was never a cash prize for the contest, but I estimate the publicity...

Calling all the Elitetraders! USIC 2023 Opens Next Week!

I entered the contest several times. In the beginning they had various categories (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, option... others?) And there were $$ amount categories of $5K, $50K and $500K. I always entered "mutual funds"... had a 2nd and a 9th in the $50K contest, and a 3x, 1st places in...

Calling all the Elitetraders! USIC 2023 Opens Next Week!

Years back it was that way. If you entered late you just had less time to accumulate profit, hopefully. But later on, things changed (now apparently that was temporary). The SEC and Zadeh were going round-and-round about his publishing results in IBD and Barrons. It was the SEC that...

Calling all the Elitetraders! USIC 2023 Opens Next Week!

A heads up.... You may need to have your account open and funded by 12/31, to avoid being disqualified. Had that happen to me once when I got the money transferred into the account on Jan 2. (Wasn't identified until final results were tabulated at end of contest year. I was notified I'd been...

"Invalid Partition Table"... NOT a problem with the drive(s)

My solution... might have bought add-on SATA controller, but instead bought another T5810 on eBay for $72.

"Invalid Partition Table"... NOT a problem with the drive(s)

I created a rescue disk. It ran one time but gave me only one option and was to reinstall Windows. Did that. Computer boots from that drive. Tried one of the other drives the computer wouldn't read... still doesn't... now in addition, the computer doesn't recognize the rescue disk as...

"Invalid Partition Table"... NOT a problem with the drive(s)

That's what I was thinking... add a disc controller to the mobo. I've been trying and swapping 4 SSDs. None work in the trouble computer, all work in the other computer. Yes, I've tried to connecting to different SATA ports... replaced SATA cables, too. I have a boot disk where I could...

"Invalid Partition Table"... NOT a problem with the drive(s)

Ditto. I have LOTS of backup... cloned drives, saved images, even backup machine. None of that is helping on this one.

"Invalid Partition Table"... NOT a problem with the drive(s)

I'm about 100% confident that it's not a software problem. I've got 4 identical computers on the network. If I take a drive from the failing computer (which messages, "invalid partition table"), and swap it to one of the another comptures.... it runs just fine. So obviously the partition...

"Invalid Partition Table"... NOT a problem with the drive(s)

You're not offering "tough love"... you're just being a punk! And you didn't read the original post... I stated, "it's NOT the drives". How do I know? I took drives out of another machine and ran them in the trouble machine. Same error message. Took the swapped drives back out of trouble...
