I have never said, or implied that. What I said, is that we need reform. The reform would cap the awards such that the punishment does indeed fit the crime.
No it is not. Do you really believe that NONSENSE? Awarding 50 million dollars to someone because they endured some name calling is compete bullshit. The guy should apologize, perhaps those guys get paid a nice bonus, but not 50 million.
The ideal scenario is that the punishment fit the...
Care to comment on your profit taking strategy? How do you determine them? Do they really perform better than waiting for the opposite signal to occur? Or is it better to let your winners run with a trailing stop?
His comeback, is no better than a prop trader who blow's out his 50k account, and struggles for a period, then makes the come back and starts to earn a decent living again.
There is nothing special about nieder hoffer, the only difference between him and anyone else is his size. Don'...
If you get a 16.5 buy....you don't want it....just my .02.
Intc is currently a buy, triggered at 18.50, and system still holding long here.
Stop, would be 16.50!
Good trading!
I have been doing alot of work on these markets lately, and the opportunities seem just too good to pass up. I'll share my analysis, and trade details. I watch all of the futures markets, so if you'd like me to add another, I'll be happy to do so.
Corn....Might Trigger a long next...
What does your daily MTM equity curve look like. Are you trading these spreads, or investing in them. Trading, means you cycle them every couple of days, investing means you put them on and wait for reversion to some price.
Because you hollar and scream at the computer, doesn't mean you lack discipline. It just means you react to pressure differently.
Let's take two case examples here. The first is Marty Schwartz, from reading his book, you can tell that he is a high pressure, type A personality, who...
A good trader will stay calm? Sounds like new age BS to me. The are great traders on both side of the spectrum. Some are calm. Others curse, yell and scream. The only emotional state that has a real impact on trading is a state that invokes confidence and power in an individual. It's...
Why do you think this stock is such a good buy? It really needs to close above 5.05, otherwise I would consider selling the position around 5. What is the catalyst that will move it higher?
I'd thought I'd throw in my .02 worth.
Never risk more than 10%....pretty good rule.
Instead of choosing an exit point when it goes against you, I would choose an exit BEFORE you get into the trade. Write it down, and keep it handy, that way, you will be able to respond and take action...
There are three types of countertrend strategies. One is a short term trade, which is for a few points, this strategy is best suited for trending markets, when trading against the trend. Another is a countertrend strategy that captures a short term pullback in a trending market, and use that to...
Annuities......damn near the worst investment anyone can make. No doubt, the insurance lobby got this one through.
Learn to invest and manage your own money, no one will do a better job than you. To keep on topic though, I imagine any of the large insurers will offer it. AIG, HIG, PRU, etc
The latest numbers I have, are
top 1%, 295 495,
top 5%, 130,080,
top 10%, 94, 891,
top 25%, 57,343.
The top 5%, pay 31% of the nations taxes, the bottom 50%, pay 3.46%.
Interesting information, just though I'd share.
So Hedgeking.....some things about your story don't add up. You had all of your cash in your brokerage account, and kept none in a savings/money market account, why? This just doesn't make sense to me. Everyone I know, who has that kind of cash, keeps 50 or 100k in cash or cash equivalents...
Learn from Hedgekings mistakes, but certainly don't take his advice. Something good can come from this. We, as traders, are reminded of what can happen if we fail to follow the rules of good trading. In this sense, he is a wonderful case study on poor risk management, "deer in the headlights"...
Inspired by Shreddog(and a few others:))'ll share my P&L for the day. Certainly not on the level of Reardon or $costaverageman.....but very respectable....all I can say is that one day I'll be joining them.
Great day today, capping of a great week....and another good month in the markets...
