already sorry I've opened a new IB account ...

Sigh. As I said, I've managed to divine the answer to my question (and, insofar as I can tell, it's not covered in the "instructions") so there's really nothing more to be said on that front. I remain, however, fascinated by the virulence with which IB's advocates promote their case. To...

already sorry I've opened a new IB account ...

As I said a few pages ago in response to your other post: Yeah, you're right. That's why I opened an account with them. Again. With apologies to Sir Winston, "It's the worst brokerage, with the exception of all the other brokerages out there." Nevertheless, I stand by my contention that...

Actually, I'd thought of putting everyone on this thread on "ignore" except, well, I don't really give a rip one way or another. I do remain curious to know what "offense" has inspired this pile-on ... other then, of course, the offense of offending the IB cultists. The whole cult thing is...

LOL! I was wondering when OddTrader would show up. No IB thread is complete without a cameo from OddTrader. Again, though, my question remains (unanswered): For what, precisely, have I been "busted"?

OH YEAH! BUSTED!! ( ... um, for what, again?)

already sorry I've opened a new IB account ...

Sigh. And to think, yours was one of the only constructive responses I received on this thread. Sorry about your retracted offer, but that's ok. I figured it out. And, yes, you're right: TWS has made some (actually, lots) of changes since you configured your workspace. I would post...

Ok, finally. Someone shuts down the crank. +1 to you for that. And, yeah, that's why I opened an account with them. But WTF's up with their crazy TWS?! *&%$%!!

This just gets better and better. I did not say I couldn't figure out how to place a buy order on tws. I said I couldn't make sense of "bid" v. "ask" v. "BookTrader Price" in the specific context of the button configuration utility. Just to make it absolutely clear, I've attached...

I think I've discovered the problem. You see, I am, in fact, a power user: After all, I am attempting to configure TWS' macro functionally in BookTrader. Not exactly "newbie" stuff. But IB -- and I say this based on the majority of responses in this thread, such as yours -- is not built...

Thanks. I have seen this. I continue to ponder the meaning of "BookTrader Price" when presented as an alternative to "Bid" and "Ask" in the button configuration window. I have yet to decipher its meaning in this particular context.

already sorry I've opened a new IB account ...

This is fascinating. No one -- NO ONE -- seems to know what the "BookTrader Price" is. "Bid" v. "Ask" v. "BookTrader" price. NONE OF YOU ARE ABLE TO SAY!! My heavens. You use this platform. You emerge, en masse, to ridicule anyone who expresses unhappiness with IB. And yet ...

Ok, instead of name-calling, how about looking at the attached screengrab and telling me what IB means, in this specific context, by "BookTrader Price" as opposed to "Ask" or "Bid"?

already sorry I've opened a new IB account ...

Thanks for the suggestion. As I said, I've already done that. Insofar as I can tell, there is no guidance to be found for configuring buttons on BookTrader ... and, again, no explanation of what the "BookTrader" price is. It's an incredibly shabby presentation. I mean, geez ...

Please see the attached. Can anyone enlighten me here?

I'm pretty sure it's not the level 2 order book as you're asked to choose to submit limit orders at the bid or the ask or the "booktrader price." Again, IB appears to be silent on just what that "booktrader price" is. An aside ... so far, i've found their video tutorials to be ridiculous...

You MUST spend a few days to review the training videos posted on the site so you can use all of the features this can only benefit you. [/B] Yes, I've got a three day weekend coming up so I guess that's what I'll be doing with my weekend. This does seem absurdly complex. I've used...
