SPX, XLF, VIX - Skews and Charts Moving Forward

You mean, if someone put a gun to my head? Long. Why? Because I have no idea what the market is going to do. So the safest thing would be to simply do what the market's doing.

    Zero Downside second account

For the life of me, I can't figure out what Bright Trading and its ilk are about. No doubt this marks me as a rube, or worse, but I just don't get it. Why set up an account for someone to trade where they get to keep half the profits but you absorb 100% of the losses? Sorry, but I just...

Former VP Cheney hospitalized, resting comfortably

I knew Cheney when he was Republican whip (#2) in the House. Back then, he was a really decent guy. We all knew his wife was nuts, but Cheney himself was decency and reason personified. I was just a kid (barely out of college) at the time, but I don't think I read him wrong. The...

who trades the back months ... and why?

Just wondering who trades, say, the June or even the September contract now, when almost all the liquidity is in the March contract. Thanks

computer question -- am i being ripped off here?

I'm not seeing that price premium. I just went over to the Dell website to configure a Precision workstation comparable my Power Mac, and it would've cost more than my PowerMac (and this was with a single quad Xeon processor, as compared to the dual quad Xeons in the Power Mac). And it was...

computer question -- am i being ripped off here?

You know, it's funny thing. I can't really defend it. But I've never felt at home with any Mac OS. I find it counter-intuitive, precious, and creaky. In fact, every time I sit down at a Mac (with Mac OS loaded, that is), my blood pressure starts to rise. Something about the Mac OS just...

computer question -- am i being ripped off here?

--- epilogue --- The last year has been good, so I decided to splurge. I walked into a Mac store, bought a dual quad core Nehalem-Xeon Mac Pro. I'm running 64-bit windows7 courtesy of BootCamp. In other words, my Mac's now a PC. So far, it's the best damn PC I've ever encountered...

computer question -- am i being ripped off here?

They offered a "free upgrade" to their F-25 model. Coincidentally (or not), its specifications are essentially identical to the computer I ordered (and paid for) so I wasn't clear on how this represented an upgrade. In any event, I said, "no thanks just refund to my cc" and went to a retail...

computer question -- am i being ripped off here?

I'm really glad to hear this but, like I said, I've now gone with the small-fry computer builders twice -- and gotten burned both times. Compare this to the eight or ten boxes I've bought from Best Buy and the like ... Dell, Compaq, HP, Sony, IBM -- never a complaint. So, from now on...
