need help choosing a good futures broker

"4. Fast excetution. / no requote / no slippage" no requote ? Futures quotes are constantly changing and nothing can be done about it. no slippage ? If you use market orders there is always the possibility of slippage. Amount of slippage depends on the market, time of day and order size.

Could TradeStation Futures Accounts be At Risk?

Futures accounts are not insured. All futures brokers do not have the same level of risk. The biggest risk to a futures account comes from the other customers of the broker, not the broker itself. Thus brokers with poor risk management procedures are putting your account at risk.

How can a country go bankrupt ?

For the vast majority of countries their currency is worthless outside their borders. If no one wants to exchange your multicolored funny money for real money your country is bankrupt.

    I hate IB

"razor think profit margin 4.91%" ??? Maybe you should learn how to read a financial report. IB's brokerage business has a 47% pre-tax margin. When it comes to futures commissions it is very easy to find brokers with lower commissions than IB. It is on the equity side that IB is hard to beat.

Is There any Broker in Canada as Low Commissions (stocks) as IB?

Other brokers have been increasing margins. TradeStation ended their $1000 intraday margin for eminis. 2 weeks ago there was this post about RCG: "yes, cme raised ES margins to $5,063 per contract. RCG even doubled that to $10,126 for the ES. anyone have a similar experience?"...

Black boxes destroying market for everyone

You have it backwards, the high volatility has caused 1000's of black boxes to be turned off. Those missing 1000's of black boxes make the markets even thinner and more volatile. It is a positive feedback loop.

    IB raising margin every week?

This thread started out about futures margin and my comment about margin over the exchange minimum was futures related. After trying to make sense out of IB's account statements I figured out that the programmers who write IB's accounting software know nothing at all about proper accounting...

What can be so hard about a vote?

"The GOP makes the process hard" ??? Voting is simple: you register to vote and go vote. In decades of voting in multiple states I've never been asked for ID, let alone photo ID.

Should Baron change this forum's name to "Complain about IB"

IB beat my wife, kicked my dog, stole all 4 wheels off my car, torched my house, converted my account to Zimbabwean dollars and set all my clocks to the Newfoundland Time Zone. If it wasn't for the API I'd change brokers.

Best broker and trading platform for E-mini?

TradeStation charges $2.40 RT plus exchange fees. If you don't see the exchange fees listed on the statement I'm sure that TradeStation will bill you later.

    what if IB go bankrupt?

This horse has been beaten to death a number of times. Why don't you read the account protection information on IB's website. http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/general/about/ibgStrength.php?ib_entity=llc

IB raised ICE NYBOT data to $55

IB doesn't actually charge the $1 a month for the ICE/NYBOT data feed. It is a nonfee fee. For some reason IB only wants accounts eligible to trade futures to have the ICE/NYBOT feed so the $1 fee (that isn't really charged) limits which accounts can subscribe and keeps the rift raft out.

    trading on member rates

Yes, but the rates for leasees are way below nonmember rates. If I am reading the CME fees schedule properly for Eurodollars: per side, total clearing and Globex fees seat owner $0.19 seat lease $0.37 nonmember $1.19 Saving $0.82 a side with a seat lease is $24,600 for 30,000...

    trading on member rates

An IMM lease is currently $2800 a month. If you can't save multiples of that $2800 a month by being a member your volume can't be that high. There is also the CME Electronic Corporate Membership program.
