    Lightspeed acquires Terra Nova

First Anvil and now Terra Nova. It is important to note that Terra Nova is an FCM and Lightspeed is not. Wonder if Lightspeed is sizing up looking to compete head on with Interactive Brokers? Lightspeed alreay offers lower commissions on both stocks and futures than IB does. For futures...

Open E-Cry and Velocity Affected by Fictious Trades

Money laundering requires that you have money in the first place. The $7.8 milion loss clearly indicates there was little money to start with in the OEC account. All government agencies are a joke. Does Homeland Security make you feel secure?

Open E-Cry and Velocity Affected by Fictious Trades

Just because it hasn't happened recently doesn't mean that it can't happen. OEC only has capital of $3.8 million (April CFTC FCM report). Good thing they are owed by OptionsExpress with deep pockets. If you knew the details of the Volume Investors blowout you would know that the customers...

Open E-Cry and Velocity Affected by Fictious Trades

You would think that no electronic broker would let a customer dig a deep hole in their account by overtrading. Especially after the rogue wheat trader cost MF Global $141.5 million over 2 years ago and put futures brokerage firms on notice not to allow rouge traders to exceed proper account...

Open E-Cry and Velocity Affected by Fictious Trades

Here are the details that the CFTC doesn't bother to mention: A Russian man in the United States on a work visa exploited a software glitch to swipe nearly $8 million by trading Russian ruble futures, a commodities firm claims Cook County Court. Plaintiff Open E Cry claims that Marat...

Can I trade DJIA futures in NYSE?

NYSE is a stock exchange. Futures trade on a futures exchange. DJIA futures (symbol YM) trade on the CBOT division of the CME Group. http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/equity-index/us-index/e-mini-dow.html You would be better off trading the S&P futures (symbol ES) as they are more...

    ES exchange fees

No need to pay over $2.00 for ES. IB has all in rate per side of $2.00 and Lightspeed $1.65. Plenty of firms in between those two rates.

    IB customer service hell!!!

Joke all you want, but IB still has two serious issues. Their futures commissions are still too high, even after their recent price cut on the first 1000 sides. IB is very aggressive in stock and option commissions, so why not futures commissions? IB does not properly test new versions of...

What's the best commissions you can get in HFT?

What does HFT have to do with commissions? If you do big futures volume then get an exchange seat and negotiate a commission deal with a clearing firm.

    Exchange seats - worth buying?

Nice to see logic that turns reality upside down and backwards. :p

Quote Tracker - no VIX Data from IB

I had problems with all index data on Friday after I upgraded to the latest TWS. I reported the problems to QT support and they told me to drop back to TWS 904.9 until they could figure out what IB changed in TWS 905.4. I was suprised that no one else reported a problem. This has been a...

IB Data- difference between historical and live

IB provides realtime snapshot data with price and volume (every 100 ms for futures) and the snapshot can miss a high or low tick. IB's 5 second backfill does provide the exact high and low ticks. If you require a true tick datafeed you need to use a 3rd party data feed provider or another broker.

Quote Tracker - no VIX Data from IB

I reported that back on 06/04/10 for index data http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=200642 TWS version 904.9 works properly with QT. IB screwed something up with TWS and/or API with the new versions.

    any execution platform under 10ms?

Under 10 ms for what exactly? For FX and other futures Globex trade matching engine is curently in the 5 ms range, so any native orders on the exchange server are done in 5 ms.

    Exchange seats - worth buying?

Wide range on the annual percent cost of a lease. Must be a reason CBOT division seat lease rates are so high. Seat Last Sale Lease CME $750,000 $1900 3.0% IMM $443,000 $950 2.6% IOM $171,500 $550 3.9% GEM $38,500 $275 8.6% CBOT $225,000 $1501.75 8.0%...

    QuoteTracker and TWS 905.4

Any one else having a problem with QuoteTracker 3.9.7 not updating index data with TWS version 905.4? Futures and stocks update fine, but all the index data only get backfill. Example symbols are NYSE:$INDU, NASDAQ:$NDX AND NYSE:$AD-NYSE (of course, no backfill for A/D data).

Are you really improving your results or just curve fitting them? When your system is robust and profitable you trade it with 1 contract (or 100 shares) and see what it does with real money trading.
