K thanks- That aside, IMO liquidity on Canadian stocks is the pits.... If I were automated, I were likely be in a bigger sea than the TSX..

    Algorithmic trading execution methods

I use none of it. I just researched it all and found out I was either too broke or not smart enough to figure out their query language. But broke came first :) I don't do anything intraday so its really not much use to me having these kind of trading avenues....

    Algorithmic trading execution methods

Cost is a major consideration here - some of those products cost like $100k to own/lease.... Like flextrade, apama, streambase, KDB+ etc.... And you'll need a superpricey datafeed... Then you need custom filters to filter the data, specialized programming for your strategy that queries...

    Reverse Martin Gale strategy

Thats the whole point of turtle style trend following. Look for a guide on the net called turtlerules.pdf It will show this process. However, using generic backtesting software, scaling in and out of your trades is very hard to implement IMO. There are companies that offer software that...

Looking for Renaissance Medallion, SAC, Baupost returns...

I've seen SAC International's monthly results since 96 at Dealbreaker a few months back. REIT (Renaissance Institutional Equities) was there too - but thats not the real deal fund, you won't find Medallions actual returns anywhere, I've looked. Not sure about Baupost either... you might...

    Independent automating trading in Canada.

Brokers have APIs. IB has one... but you might consider running your strategy standalone before spending 100s of hours testing it in IB.... Other brokers have APIs in Canada too, but they want like $1000s of month just for the data plan and commission schedule that goes with it. I.E they...

    Independent automating trading in Canada.

TFSA is max $5000 a year. RRSP is mx 17% of your income at highest levels. If you're going to trade systematically using high frequency automated trading... you'll need more than $5k!

I've been reading "the holy grail of macroeconomics" by Richard Koo. http://www.amazon.com/Holy-Grail-Macroeconomics-Lessons-Recession/dp/0470823879 In it there are some ideas that parallel the current crisis as compared to Japan's lost years... Might want to take a look at it. One of...
