Trusting What You Think You See/Trusting Sources of Trading Information

Part of the biggest issue I have with trading, and investing, for that matter, is feeling comfortable that the sources of information I am relying upon to pull the trigger with my personal money (not 'opm') are inherently reliable. We've all heard the myths and stories, read about the very...

If you owe money on your home, are you really a 'homeowner?'

The correct answer is that you never truly 'own' anything until you are in a position whereby the asset is free of ongoing or recurring financial liabilities to any third parties so that these 3rd parties can never exercise a right to use the legal process to remove your name from the legal...

President Eisenhower Warned Us In His Farewell Speech: Did You Pay Your 'War Taxes?'

From Jason Kelly's Blog - A fine, fine article, IMO: Send In Your War Taxes April 15, 2008 Today's the big day. Along with the rest of us, you've either sent in your pound of flesh, will do so today, or did so all of last year and are now supposed to be happy to get some back -- without...

    GET THE HELL OUT

Direct quote from the article you cite: ``Money will come in anyway to speculate on the yuan and maybe the asset markets,'' said Stephen Green, head of China research at Standard Chartered Bank Plc in Shanghai. ``We really need some rate hikes to tackle inflation because other tools are...

    GET THE HELL OUT

Permabulls want to shout from the rooftops that we've managed to 'doubleclick' our way out of tremendously recessionary economic trends. Brother, the bull is going down by the tip of the spear. Bank on it.

    GET THE HELL OUT

The market has granted a gift: A special 2nd chance to short the hell out the market, and make an absolute killing. Few stocks will be spared in the next wave down. Commodities will implode as a corollary of China's massive slowdown that will be marked by the Olympic Games. The only safe...

    The overrated list

+1 stck_turder is a regular Nostradamus. His statement that the only reason Warren Buffet "is a multibillionaire is because he bought coke and gillete in the early 80's and held..." treads on a special and rare section of stupidity that few statements dare venture, and should be put into...

    You Lucky Bastards: FMD

It's very bad. Which is good, in a perverse way, because it's an election year. Read this article: It basically states that Congress hasn't done enough, and that if they don't support private loans, the whole system is going to grind to a halt, in an election year. The government has to...

    You Lucky Bastards: FMD

I'm averaging down again, maybe tomorrow, or maybe later, depending on price action and pending news. The BofA news hurt today badly. The legislation passed in the house today regards federal loans only. I stand and wonder, genuinely, how there will be a situation allowed to linger whereby...

If you owe money on your home, are you really a 'homeowner?'

At what point does one 'own' their home? Is it when they have 20% equity, 50%, 85%? Or does one really only 'own' one's home when it's completely unencumbered by any mortgage or other such albatross? This is an important point that merits discussion in an age in which American...

    Do NOT Take Vitamins

This seems to be a very credible study, and pretty much damns the health benefits of taking vitamin supplements - it even claims people taking such supplements, particularly Vitamin A and E and beta carotene, increase their mortality risk. If you don't eat sensibly, pills and chemists can't...

Why are refiners up when oil is @ all time high?

Valero is selling off refineries (Aruba) and literally shutting others (Corpus Christi), running at 73% utilization as a whole, because buying crude on the open market is crushing their margins, and their price is being bid up 5% today.

Why are refiners up when oil is @ all time high?

It makes NO sense that the refiners popped today given that it's getting less and less profitable for them to refine crude oil as crude oil gets more expensive - especially the non-integrated refiners such as Valero, Tesoro, Frontier and Holly.

SIGM trading near liquidation value (Strong Buy)

I'm seriously thinking of loading up on SIGM, too. I ran a screen and it didn't show up although it meets all my requirements. I don't know why it didn't show. I'm trying to find every tidbit of info on it tonight that I can. It does seem their fortunes were tied to Motorola, but they have...

US to lose its triple A?

It's hilarious and sad and the same time. It's hilarious because it confirms what we've been saying about the incompetence of our government and (privately owned) federal reserve for a long time. And it's sad because it confirms what we've been saying about the incompetence of our...
