    My option trades

yeah this is not for everyone, its a moving target. I am just saying that if you are wrong on your position you can adjust your risk/hedge by trading the stock. What got me thinking about this was that while rimm opened down quite alot it basically traded back to even from 12.37.

    My option trades

I am just saying that you can flatten out a position in the afterhours, most people don't do that. There is a discussion on another thread about whether or not you can "adjust " a position at all. I am talking about capping your risk on an option trade. For example if you are short deltas and...

    My option trades

Ok I am ashamed of myself for posting that. Here is something to think about for newer traders ( not you Falcon...:) ). If you were short calls on Rimm yesterday for example you could have bought the stock back cheap after hours, you now have locked your position. Maybe someone else can explain...

    My option trades

Here's the thing Don, retail traders who never worked at an exchange don't have any reason to understand what you are talking about. Know any new option trades that are doing coversions/reversals, LOL. Its more a bet it all on black or the guy whose first trade is an iron condor. Personally I...

    My option trades

on your other thread you made money buying a straddle. You were long vega and therefore when volatility expanded/rose you benefitted. An example would be the near month goog strike would see an increase in vol near earnings. You have to try to stay on one concept at a time. Just chew on this and...

    synthetics

Charles Cottle's book option trading the Hidden Reality has I think an interesting way of understanding synthetics, he explains how all positions are interchangeable. Useful information for active market makers. Here is a link to some youtube vids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MB2q_3OhKA

Did Altucher fail as a trader?

I think an issue that could possibly maybe be discussed intelligently (after all this is ET) is whether high frequency trading has made the market hyper efficient. Its possible to argue that daytraders can't make money because the machines are just too smart. I don't really buy this but...

Did Altucher fail as a trader?

Its this sentence that people are disagreeing with: "Can you make money in the long run using charts, TA, etc: No. Nobody has ever done, nobody ever will. And with more computers in the game than ever, it will become even more impossible. " also James you appear to be lumping everyone who...

    My option trades

As usual you are over analyzing it to death. Sell one put, collect premium. If the put you sold is exercised, you now own the stock at a lower price and keep the premium. Forget about the dividend.
