    IB Backfill Improvements

How exactly would it work and how would it benefit the tick chart drawing? If I understand this correctly, the proposal is to just return the same data as is being returned now (1 minute OHLC data for example) and add # of trades in that 1 minute period to the returned data. Right? If so...

Yes, you do. If you didn't that would explain why you are not getting any data

Yes, you can use paintbars to color the bars based on user defined formulas that can be as simple as just checking if MACD is positive or negative, or complex with comparisons of various indicators, previous data, etc.

QT does this if the datafeed supports ARCA and other ECN books directly (Ameritrade, CyberTrader, MB Trading have them. Don't remember what others). Getting the books from different datafeeds is more complicated. To do that, the data would have to be stored, and we don't store that. Doing so...

Moreagr The data should be there if you ran QT during market hours. Right click on the symbol and select Raw data. Is there data there? (more than 1 row) If so, you probably just have wrong time frame selected on the chart. move the mouse over the corner with the auto hide tool bar, then...

    Medved QuoteTracker

you do have to have data for the charts to work :) If you run QT during market hours, it will store the data to show on the charts. If you use a datafeed that has backfill, you can right click on chart and select Backfill.... To configure the source for backfill if its other than the main...

Access to 1 week IB backfill through QuoteTracker?

the bandwidth is measuring different things with IB than with IQFeed. In both cases QT communicates locally (TWS or IQCLIENT) but the way the local data protocol sends data is different, so the amount of data sent per update varies drastically between the two sources. Cannot compare them. The...

Access to 1 week IB backfill through QuoteTracker?

The bandwidth is not an issue. Is there another # below the bandwidth? If so and if it is always there, does not go away (show -), what is it and what is the bandwidth at the same time? Also, go to OPTIONS/Edit Preferences menu, MISC tab. On bottom right, change the quote table refresh to...

Access to 1 week IB backfill through QuoteTracker?

IB backfill update - IB fixed this real fast. That the 1 day backfill issue is now fixed. There was an issue on the server side that was just resolved and the browser based beta 847 fixed the other issues. Earlier through I ran browser beta, it still came up as 846 version - have to make sure...

    Help for New IB user

    1) you can use the front end for quotes only and still place trades via TWS 2) the front end connects to TWS via TCP/IP locally. The time it takes to send the trade from one to the other would be measured in a few hundreds of a second. If thats a problem, then you may want to reconsider your...

    Help for New IB user

If you use TWS, sounds like it. You can however use 3rd party apps that connect to TWS that have different user interfaces. QuoteTracker for example lets you enter the symbol right in the Level II window. Same goes for a number of others: http://www.quotetracker.com

IB Charting --- Problem in GMT+10

The problem I refered to in the other post did not involve changing the system time while the software is running. Doing so is very likely to screw up any time sensitive software
