    IB Backfill for current date?

there is no problem getting data for the current day. As for tick data, IB does not have that for current or previous days.

    Wired or wireless router?

Well, one of the firmware update release notes is: "Resolved issue where the WLAN LED stays on even when wireless is disabled" Which sort of implies that Wireless CAN be disabled...

    Wired or wireless router?

R-In, I know I saw an option to disable wireless on a Linksys router before, but I am sure that it would depend on the specific model. Would be surprised (and quite disappointed) if you could not turn that off. Since right now you do not have another option, just secure the Wireless, AND...

    Ninja trader or a broker - ????????/

we don't like to do things half way. If we release a DOM interface, we would want to make it VERY good, not just something thrown in to say that we have it. Since doing that involves quite a bit of work, its a trade off between that and lots of other features on our todo list. Therefore, for...

    Ninja trader or a broker - ????????/

Yes, you would open an IB account, then setup NinjaTrader to trade using IB. I Don't know the details about them, other than that they are a popular DOM front end for a number of brokers. I am with a different software firm (QuoteTracker) so really not one to ask about the details on their...

    Ninja trader or a broker - ????????/

NinjaTrader is a software package, not a broker. You have to have a broker account with one of the brokers they support, such as Interactive Brokers, MB Trading, or one using PATSystems.

    Wired or wireless router?

one cheap solution would be to put all but one computer in the other room then use RealVNC (or UltraVNC) to just remote control their screens. Would be best if the main PC had 2 or more monitors. On a local connection, it should be very quick.

    IB Question

TWS has DMI, MACD, RSI, Stochastics. Etc is a bit broad :). You can also use QuoteTracker with IB and it has that and far more. It can be used for free (though registered lets you have more days on charts) http://www.quotetracker.com/ib.asp

Am I responsible for faulty Trademaven?

Your broker ALWAYS takes precedence. If they say you are flat, you are flat. If later it turns out you aren't, THEN you may be able blame them. But if they tell you that you are flat and you ignore it, you are responsible.

    IB / Quotetracker

you can use QT for any symbols that IB supports. The symbol you would enter into QT would be: ECBOT:@YG DEC 05 NOTE: must have 3 spaces after YG, 1 space after DEC

    Wired or wireless router?

as for that D-Link router, I do not have it, but read up on it. Looks really good. If I was buying a router right now, I would probably spend a bit extra and get that one.

    Wired or wireless router?

to point out something that seems to be missed - most wireless routers are also a wired router. They usually have at least 4 10/100 ports. If you use that its the same as connecting to a wired router. The overhead for wireless is only if you use it. And, for security, you can turn off the...

    IB data feed

Scott, that is not exactly correct. If 10 trades went off, the volume will change and you will get events for that. You may not get 10, but you will get them at least a few times per second.

    Charting a basket of stocks

You can also use QuoteTracker for that, with eSignal as the datafeed. Just create a portfolio with the symbols that make up the custom index. assign a fixed # of shares and base price to each entry. Once you do that, QT will track the portfolio total and let you chart that. That total is in fact...

Level 2 ECN depth of book

QuoteTracker can show you that if you use a datafeed that provides both NASDAQ L II and ECN Book data. For example, MB Trading, RML Traing, CyberTrader, ChoiceTrade, Ameritrade. http://www.quotetracker.com/

    IB data feed

IB L I quotes do not have time stamps. Therefore, QT uses system time (internally adjusted). Backfill does have time on the data. The two times may not line up exactly. Therefore, backfill data might have some volume shifted to the next or previous minute relative to the L I data. If you look...

    IB data feed

Thats not possible. QT is going by cumulative volume, which is exactly the same whether you backfill or get it from Level I. The granularity is different, but the VOLUME is the same. Can't be any other way. I think you are looking at something other than volume and calling it volume. # of...

    IB data feed

What your "other broker" is doing is totally screwed up. IB doesn't do it that way.
